Unfortunately, classic Warlords 2 is not included in the GOG bundle. Warlords 2 Deluxe is its own game, with a redone engine. As far as I know, there's currently no legal way to obtain it, or the scenario editor for it, short of maybe ebay and the like.

I'd also wish it, and Warlords 3 Reign of Heroes, were included, just for completeness' sake.

A lot of the original Warlords II graphics are included in the deluxe game. Terrain and city sprites (including razed city sprites) are all hidden away in the terrain directory. I could technically create scenario using these graphics, which could then be used in random games as well. But that would take some work and time that I don't have right now. Maybe someone else is up for it?

As for the old unit sprites, I couldn't find them, unfortunately.

I agree with you. When the Mac had Warlords I, it had the graphics of Warlords 2 (now known as Warlords 2 Classic for the PC).
When the Mac got Warlords 2, it had the graphics of Warlords 2 Deluxe for the PC with the updated army sets.
I really disliked those army sets and using a tool called RESEDIT extracted the army sets out of MAC Warlords 1 and replaced them in Mac Warlords 2.

The GOG version of Warlords 2 Deluxe has only the City sets of Warlords 2 classic and no scenarios using the Warlords 2 classic set in their entirety.

The download I have posted has these Warlords 2 classic army sets.

Thank you very much for the Warlords 2 classic army set! The missing army set was the reason I never liked to play Warlords 2 Deluxe decades ago after I purchased the boxed version and always switched back to the Warlords 2 classic version.

I used your army set to replace the default units in Warlords 2 Deluxe. It works fine but there is one thing missing: There is no graphic for hero items lying on the ground (e.g. after a hero has been slaughtered/disbanded or just dropped an item). In the classic version these actions released a bag on the ground. In the original Walords 2 Deluxe ERYTHEA army set the file ERYTHEAS.PCX contains a corresponding graphic.

Could you please add the missing graphic to the file ERYTHEAS.PCX?

Hmm after looking at both I agree that the original Walords 2 graphics looked better than those in the deluxe version. Were the midi music the same in both versions? Since I now have bought the deluxe version I definitely won't have any qualms about going jolly roger for the original version.

some of the tracks are the same but most of the soundtrack for Deluxe is just for Deluxe.

One of the reasons it would be nice if Vanilla was included in the package since there are enough differences between the two that some people have preferences for one or the other
