I understand if people get angry by this "create a new account" thing - I was angry at first, too. But it is only needed for multiplayer and the gift-box (which contains things, which one can get ingame too - some of them really quick). If one is going with singleplayer only, there is no need for that account and no login at all - no DRM in that case.

As for multiplayer - many of the games supporting these have some kind of account now. While this may work as DRM too - this is also anti-cheat and not that uncommon. But the description of the game could have been more clear.
Sadly I have to view it as DRM... since it prevents me from playing with my friend on the same network segment even if we're some where there's no internet or our internet is offline (which happens frequently despite game companies claiming it doesn't).

For now it hasn't been an issue since we bought the 2 pack on Steam but I was interested in purchasing the GOG edition for the bottomless healing potion until I learned it was still behind the DRM wall.

I posted a question to the Steam boards as well about how the treasure keys (which are verified online behind the DRM wall) are encoded into the saved games. No response so far.

I'm a huge fan of any RPGs & am even still working on Diablo 2 & have Diablo 1 installed with the saved game of my final character. In fact I typically use Gamesave Manager to continue my games across years if the game supports it. (I have saved game archives back to 2007.) So it's a big deal if a treasure key can cause my saved game to become unplayable if there's no internet.
This is because my ISP is unreliable & the maximum amount of time I've had to go with out internet (this year) has been 4 days.

Anti cheat is pretty much only needed in online games, seriously who the heck cares if one of your friends is cheating in a LAN session.....
And sadly it is true that this is not that uncommon and it is our fault for not boycotting games.
It is understandable that if you wan´t to play multiplayer online that you need some sort of an account to distinquish yourself from the rest of the herd, but why not offer both, the devs have already made the multplayer component (client speaking to a server) so having LAN also is not that hard.

It is sad but until these modes are removed or simple revamped I'm going to boycott a purchase for this game. No DRM to tolerate!

EDIT: Q&A cleared many questions. DRM is going to removed regarding the codes and a local multiplayer is implemented through splitscreen. So just waiting for the Linux-Version to be added here and then I have not to boycott any longer. :D

Why? Okay it would be also better having a local LAN-mode peer-to-peer. But it is even okay because otherwise a complete license is needed for every player. For splitscreen you could only grab one license and play with friends or family. Not the best but even good when the other player don't want to invest money or have some unsure reactions about it.
Lost sale as this is clearly DRM and after reading the part of encoded treasure keys I again find myself betrayed by GOG. But many people guessed it back when the "one world one price" policy was betrayed ... in little steps gog is going to be nothing else then some shitty steam imitation. A shame as I believed them once.

Then you will be able to play when the local coop is available on the same machine.
The bottomless healing potion is not behind a DRM, it's just a normal item which drops in the game but you can get it instantly this way as a present.
The treasure key changes nothing and gives you items that are already in the game.

Have you read through the Q&A-thread?

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/victor_vran_developer_qa_b9a24/page1

There are changes coming and this includes DLC-handling and the gift-code for example. I am also with the criticism, but I'm also willing to give a chance.

Splitscreen and no local LAN?!
Having Both would be genius but like that it's just stupid....
Gift of Gear is just a unlimited health potion.
There's been no mention of Treasure Scrolls being added to offline.
.
Treasure scrolls are special scrolls that can only drop and be activated when you are playing online.
They can contain either treasure hunts or bounties.

Treasure hunts require you to go to different places and find/collect the treasure pieces. After you've collected all the pieces you will automatically receive the rewards.
Bounties require you to go to several places and kill stuff (special bosses). Same as the treasure hunt, once you fulfill all requirements you get your rewards.
So yes, gog is indeed no longer drm free :(

Here is a voting to be supported that kind of issue: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/get_rid_of_the_drm_in_your_games_details_in_description

Otherwise around: There are three more games added to the catalogue yesterday. "Anno 1602" got rid of the DRM or better copy-protection. So that GOG is completely no longer DRM-free would be a topic for discussion from my point. Regarding "Victor Vran" it is also not the best act. But there are updates coming. We have therefore to wait!
Yes there are updates coming to victor Vran, but the developers have never said anything about making treasure scrolls available offline in the future.

A lot of gog users seem to be confused when the developers said that the Gift of Gear item would be available offline, that is just the unlimited health potion.
The treasure scrolls are something completely different.

So then: Would you mind clarifying that point of missing information? I mean if this is another completely different aspect then what did they told in the Q&A? I thought this is just a multiplayer aspect. I can't test this because of lacking version for Linux. :-(

But this is one game at all so GOG would not lack of DRM-free tomorrow. It is correct: This game should have never released here in this state. But then we should complain more about these problems and showing off what DRM-free should meant to be. Within the discussion (http://www.gog.com/forum/general/release_victor_vran_92633) there were many different positions. Perhaps at first we should get a clear understanding for our own.
