I have the "Complete" in here and the "Final Cut" in Steam.

What is the difference?

I would obviously rather play the one in here so if the difference is an added soundtrack big deal, but if there are a million fixes and improvements in Final Cut I may have to go with my Steam version.

Yes, they are no longer sold separately. You have to buy FC to get the originals now. Not sure if there is a discount if you own some of them. Anyway you have VH 1 complete so play that one to begin with.

E.G. VH 1 Complete has better classes, etc. Personally, I would play that one. You can switch to FC once you get to 2 if you don't already own it.

Not the best idea imo since savefiles are not compatible and he would have to start from the beginning in FC.
Like it was said they changed quite a bit. VH1 had three classes to chose from while VH3 had 6 different classes to chose from. You are able to use the same character you used in VH1 in VH2 as well but you will have to start a new character when you play VH3. Imo this is a big disadvatage of the single games no matter if the classes are better or not. They are however different so having the single games along with the FC still is a thing that would make sense.

I knew the saves weren't compatible, but I wasn't sure about needing to start over. That stinks. Yeah, I would still play the Completes first (even just VH1), but thanks for the additional information.

I played the FC now for about 20 hours or so and I also tested the normal versions a bit. I have to say that I like the fact that you have unlimited health potions and mana. But I also have to add that I am not a professional ARPG gamer - quite the opposite. So it is easier for me to play the game. For a hardcore ARPG gamer this might even be a downside.

Just wanted to mention that, even if the GOG.com store page does not mention whether the release includes the various DLC or not, the "Final Cut" version comes with every single one of them, while the soundtrack can be found in the game files.
Concluding, the GOG.com release is equal, if not superior to the Steam one, for being D.R.M. free, including every single piece of content developed for this game.
Thus the answer from Gydion, marked as the "SOLUTION", is largely inaccurate (no offense). Also the "Final Cut" version is the definitive and compiled Van Helsing experience, with every class available to be picked, from the beginning of the story.

Precisely what I was confused about!
There´s a ton of DLCs on Steam not even mentioned here on GOG, somebody really needs to update that description in store.

That has to do with the new and polished, "Final Cut" version, though.
You can still play the originals, which are available for download individually, and come together with the purchase of the "Final Cut" version.
Even so, the "Final Cut" version includes all available classes, with a couple of them being renamed and tweaked a bit, since their initial introduction in the originals. Everything is there and nothing has been removed, only "optimized".

My reply is a bit late since I recently bought the game but I wanted to add my thanks for the info because it clears up the confusion of having 4 downloadable games in my library lol.
