I'm somehow interested in those titles, but I would like to know before purchasing if I need to use the Galaxy client for multiplayer.

I mean:

If a friend of mine and me buy the game through gog, do we need to use the galaxy client to play online?
There's a "direct connect", "lan game" (or equivalent) option for online play?
And, can I play with someone who owns the game on Steam using the Galaxy client?

Thanks!
Im wondering this too since it seems like the Steam version is online only with no LAN or local coop. Does this have a CD/multiplayer key?
Hi guys,

maybe this will help you

Simply put, you can use either internet or LAN from what I've read. So you shouldn't need Galaxy for local coop. I also know that the Steam version has the Galaxy dlls, so you should be able to play across platforms.

Multiplayer over the internet seems to be dead, well at least for me; perhaps because I reside in Australia(online servers in Australia seems to die far earlier than say the ones in the USA) as I just installed this to check it out on my lappy. Absolutely no servers online, clicked refresh button several times, nothing showed up. So either I must need the Galaxy Client for this to work or there is simply no one playing this over the internet anymore.

Oh well, Single player will have to do for me. I'll play it on my tower once I get it running because I can't stand playing a laggy game on my lappy.
The multiplayer just not work or is no one there is with the multiplayer option enabled?
Same question. LAN support decides whether i´ll buy or not. As Victor Vran doesn´t support LAN i really hope Van Helsing does. There should already be someone who installed checked out the game´s multiplayer menu in the GOG version.

Um, don't actually know as I never got the game on release date. So it could actually be both! heh. But I'm sure this game is decent and the devs are not that dodgy to implement a multiplayer system that doesn't work. As of yesterday around 4pm, Western Australia time, there was absolutely no one online playing this. There might be, however, people playing online in your country of Spain...maybe I don't know. My search criteria was world Wide and wasn't able to pick up anything so maybe no one actually plays this game online anymore? Or their games are private like LAN games or something?

I'll have to re-install the game again to tell you if it has LAN option/button because I just un-installed as I can't remember what I saw! hahaha

Ok, just re-installed the game to try to answer your LAN/Online multiplayer mode.

See attachments, actually never mind that; the max file size is 500KB and mine are around 2MB each(resolution is only 1366x768). I don't want to compress to 500KB as they will all look like crap so instead I will host them on photobucket and link their direct URLs here.

Joining a server:

I can't actually test if joining or creating a server works on LAN as I don't have another computer, so you'll have to find out if it actually works or not. So far everything seems to be in place, so you'll have to find out when you both buy the game and have one person create the server and the other joining it.

As you can see, there's absolutely no servers online as of today at ~10am in the morning in Australia. But maybe you can help with that by making your own server and have someone join ya! Enjoy - I'm gonna uninstall this on my lappy again.

@ Newbie: Thank you for your extensive response.
As there is no LAN support i´ll wait for Local-Coop-Patch for Victor Vran. Maybe Van Helsing will be upgraded too one day.

Well if you have another gaming computer and another person to play with you, like a family member or a friend, you can tell that person to jump on that, you create the server and he/she join your game. And it should work - I can't do this as I don't have another computer to play with.... If you got that working, that means LAN works. If you wanna test if it allows you to join from the internet, have a yourself create the game at your house and a friend at his/her place join you from there. If it works that means you can play over the internet as well.

LAN support could exist and work, but you'll need at least two computers for it to work - I only got my craptop and it's not even game-able! haha. Try ... - oh wait you're the guy who wants to know this before buying right? In that case wait for that Spain dude to try it - if he's got two computers to try it out with that can run the game.

This reply is about LAN use on The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing. We have not tested others in the series. LAN Co-op works fine for us. You won't see any mention of a LAN in the setup screens. Rather, the host user needs choose create game (right corner of the opening screen) check the info, add a password (optional) and hit create again at the bottom of the window. Anyone on your LAN should be able to join the game. They need to simply hit "join" on the same opening screen menu and the game should show up on the server gaming list. Both may have to temporarily turn off firewalls but that was not the case for us. As for the internet, we could not get internet co-op to work. We tried creating a host server on both sides of the connection, one at a time, and we did see anything appear on the server gaming list at all. So, we actually created online servers and they did not appear. The function is broken for us. This may explain why so many people are not seeing any hosts on the gaming list. There maybe people trying and just not succeeding because this type of connection is not working. It is possible that it may be a router port issue but we have not tested this yet. TLDR: LAN works at least for us. Internet does not work.
