I'm seeing Final Cut for free (although sometimes it still shows a price -- not sure what's going on there) but it says I have the games and they won't be added to my library. So is there anything additional I would be getting, or is it not necessary to even get it?

Thanks.

I'd turn the question around.... is there any reason NOT to grab it while it is free? The free FC is time limited if I remember right.

Without final cut you get three parts of the story each in separate games. Imagine the 5 acts of Diablo II, each delivered as a separate game, with significant changes in class skills, or maybe even incompatible classes between each (which means possibility of transfering your char between the parts is limited too). I don't know how major the class differences are, I didn't play the separates, but there is some online grief to be found on this topic.

FC joins the three games together into single story. You won't have to learn classes and skills for each. You won't have to download and install lots of game assets three times - there is significant overlap in the partial versions.

If you are new to Van Helsing, you should probably go straight to final cut and ignore the partial versions.

Thanks. Good advice. I guess the reason I asked was because the description made it sound like *nothing* would be added to my library if I bought it. But I guess it can't hurt...hopefully :-)

Ah, so basically the Final Cut is all three as one game which I would presume is gonna be three times as big because it has all three in one, which means three times the wait to download because of its download size.

I only have the first two parts of the three and I don't see the third on there anymore when searching for "Van Helsing", does that mean Final Cut has overwritten it as the replacement? So what happens if I get the Final Cut just so I could get the third part? What happens to the other two parts? Does the Final Cut include the partial version as well or just only the new remake? What if I were to start my journey with the partial versions but when I finish #2, I can't continue any further because I dont have the partial part for #3? Or do I need to transfer my save over to the Final Cut to continue on with the story?

Is this like ...um, what's that game called SpellForce Platinum, except it's a remake of the entire game all in one so you don't have to worry about transferring stats and saves and be somewhat dis-orientated due to the different system it uses?

3 times the gameplay amount. Not amount of data. Biggest chunk of the download size are probably textures, sounds and similar stuff - game assets, building blocks of the world. Most of them must be repeated in all three games, because they use the same enemies and same graphics, only the level design is different.

Installer sizes:
VH 1 - 9.5G
VH 2 - 13.1G
VH 3 - 10.7G
VH-FC - 17.3G

I'm afraid you are out of luck here, GOG stopped selling the partial versions, and I have no idea if FC can import your saves. If you only want to finish the story, best bet is probably to buy the third part on Steam, they are still for sale there.

More like Diablo 2 acts, as I wrote earlier. Spellforce remained as three separate games, even as platinum release, they only bundled it together. You still had to manually import your char from the base game or Breath of winter to finish the storyline, and loose everything except equipped items in the process.

They probably did some remastering with VH final cut. Some new quests, tied all the parts together, seamless transition - I only know I'm somewhere in 3rd part based on certain significant events in game, there was only a cutscene and the game continued on.

Oh....well I haven't played SpellForce in a long time so have forgotten how the story continuation worked between the three games(so I guess they're not direct sequels, like with this game?), I've yet to play #2 of it too; they're sitting in on the shelves - I haven't found the time to install and play it...hahaha So many games on backlog......hahaha

Following text could be considered spoiler for some people, so beware...

It's a bit convoluted, it took a fair bit of remembering... You have TWO FIRST GAMES, Order of Dawn and Breath of winter. Each has it's own separate storyline, and in each the main char gets some artifact during the quest. Both artifacts are needed in the third part. You can import your char from either of the previous games, and the two heroes meet near the end (one of them guided by AI). There are some minor variations based on which base char you import.

It was great game at it's time, one of the few I got on physical media. Not sure how well it has aged, and definitely not an example of easy transition between the parts :)

There was an artifact in each game...? I don't remember that.....must have been so long that I've completely forgot what the game was about, but I do remember playing it. I was the warrior(if that's even the correct class they had) dude....I remember slashing things with whilst dual-wielding two nice looking swords....what were those black metal like guys called? Those were a pain in the ass when there were more than 10 to deal with, especially the big ones...oh god........so if I get get swarmed and surrounded, that's gg for me....hahaha

I remember not building a base and just go straight to using my main guy to kill everything. Of course some of the campaigns, if I remember right, I did need an army of sorts to get pass a *huge* blockade.....as soloing them all would have been near impossible....

There was an archer class, if memory serves me right, but you had to be *really* precise in your shots to get them whilst they're moving about...which was a pain....so you had to shoot like a couple or so more steps(depending on the distance you are from them) in front of them - I only tried that class for a bit and that sorta frustrated me so just stuck to good old melee class. There was a sorcerer class too but I don't think I tried him.....

I had the Universe edition on physical media. That included the Platinum and the two SpellForce 2 games; the base game and the expansion pack. On GoG, since I liked the game and that the third expansion pack for SpellForce 2 wasn't on physical media, I bought everything SpellForce, and DRM free is a nice touch too so I don't have to keep re-entering the CD key each time I have to launch the game.... *stares at SpellForce 1*

Ok well, I've gone ahead and bought the Final Cut from GoG rather than Steam, coz you know DRM free and the fact that I already got the first two on GoG anyways, and it looks like they do supply the download for the partial version of Van Helsing III! I could also download the Final Cut as well. I've actually downloaded both now(took a while with a ~1MB down line)....took up about 40GB of space, includes the HD textures...
