Did anyone try to compare the "Normal" S3TC Textures with the one in GOG installation? It seems like MenuGr.utx and UGoldCredits.utx are different in GOG version. I used BCompare with Clean GOG installation, and didn't run the game after installation

Can someone please provide an overview of what the current state of things are regarding patches and mods?

The links in the original post are still valid. Just make sure to download the Unreal Gold versions.

You also want to use this renderer.

The renderer doesn't work with patch 227 at all. Best to discard that one.

Just install patch 227 h / i and use those high end / extreme high end textures :-)

EDIT: Problem solved, was my fault.

Even I placed the 227i patch in the Unreal Gold installation folder and specify the base game is in C:\GOG Games\UnrealGold, where it defaulted to install, the stupid patch insist it cannot find Unreal Gold there. Yes, I have the patch version for the Gold version.

EDIT: But what this noob (= ME) did not do was make sure DX9 was installed, even I keep reminding others to install it to play many older games... also, logged into and installed it from the admin account just to be on the safe side.

perusing some of these files on the site that OP mentioned, unfortunatly some of these mod .exe's contain viruses.

Avira was picking it up on the 227 patch for me.

I assumed it was a false negative and continued, but I was also experiencing some drop in frames and poor performance. Strange to see a game from the 90s drop to single digits. Doing a tiny bit of searching, dropping shadows seemed to fix a lot of users issues, not mine. Then I went and took a look at CPU affinity, that didn't work either. I wonder if it's a 227/opengl and AMD thing?

The documentation here's confusing me. Do I need the OMP if I use the Old Unreal 227i Patch? In what order do I install the patches? Will this have an impact on RTNP? In short,I'm asking for an up-to-date collection of links and instructions,in install order. I love the game,but I don't want to bork it with bad patch installation.
