Hello everyone.

I read a few forums asking for multiplayer.
Gog version has not multiplayer because is a feature that is still unfinished. Steam has the "early access" section for testing unfinished games, but gog has not something similar and therefore I don't see appropiate to publish unfinished parts of the game that are still under construction.

This is happening with any other feature: before updating the gog version I make sure that Steam players test them before.

Concerning serials for the web, a few weeks ago Unepic became a DRM-FREE game, and therefore the usage of serials is no longer needed. If you visit the web, you'll find out that the purchase system changed and now it is done through Humble Store, being 100% DRM free.

If you see any problem in this, or something I missed, just let me know and we'll talk about it.
Thanks for the clarification. It's much appreciated.

That being said, as someone who purchased Unepic on May 21, 2013, before the June 26, 2013 deadline, I'd still appreciate a Steam key, if possible. :) (I recently sent you an e-mail with a screenshot of the relevant portion of my GOG games collection - I'll gladly provide any other documentation or verification needed, as well.)

There are three main reasons for this:

1. Greed. The Steam version comes with trading cards, and it's always fun to play the market with them. Almost like a digital economy/toy bitcoin minigame. :)

2. Convenience. I like having all my games on one service, whenever possible. In fact, I recently transferred all the games I could from Gamersgate, Capsule and the service formerly known as Impulse to Steam, then uninstalled the others.

3. Value. The Steam version comes with achievements, which are in and of themselves a fun minigame with bragging rights. Both versions of Unepic have a level editor that I'm eager to use, but I'm hopeful that at some point in the future, you'll implement Workshop integration. If/when that happens, then the Steam version will be hands down superior in terms of getting user-made levels in the hands of other users willing to play them.

Thanks again for checking back on the forums. Seeing devs actively interested in and excited about their game is the greatest factor in my buying not-yet-mainstream games and recommending them to my friends. I figure if the dev genuinely finds something to love and be excited about in their own game, then all I have to do is find the right mindset, and I'll get a lot out of it, too. Conversely, if a dev is apathetic and unresponsive, then it's difficult to understand why I, as a potential player and purchaser, should care. :)

(Don't worry, you don't fall into that second category. ;) )

Changes to the purchasing system on your own site are not relevant; GOG Unepic customers are still your customers and therefore expect to be able to access the multiplayer functionality that now exists elsewhere.

Including a key would allow players to access the Steam version's features. GOG would not bear any sort of responsibility for that version since its functionality is offered completely outside of GOG's site and services. Race the Sun does this (the GOG key unlocks a Steam key on the developer's site for various features the GOG version doesn't have) and there are probably other examples on GOG that I'm not aware of.

You should seriously consider providing a Steam key or some equivalent way for your GOG customers to access the multiplayer functionality.
Thank you for explaining franfistro! It would be great to still have the steam key as it seems the humble bundle includes one. So once the multiplayer function is finished, will it become available in the GOG version? Many of us who have already purchased the game here feel a bit cheated I thnk :)
That's great news!

I look forward to playing with my friends. Makes me doubly glad I got them the game for their birthdays :).

Thanks for the added value.

They love the story btw, especially the Zera angle.

It is not appropriate for those who have bought
because if I had read somewhere that the multiplayer would have been there I would not have bought it.
I hope that you will soon have a patch for GOG users.
Thank you. See you soon
Just some hours ago, version 1.47 was released in Steam.
Take all of you a look here www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHLigqSGnLs

Thanks to the developer for the continued updates; it is a relief to see the multiplayer for Unepic will also be coming to GOG.

Curse Steam and their accursed "Early Access" headstart...

Can you clear this up for us wondering about whether or not multiplayer IS coming to GOG? You say that this feature is unfinished, that Steam is testing the functionality. However, people have stated that they've been testing for a long time and we still don't have it.

Do you plan on releasing multiplayer for the DRM-free version?

Here's a link to the discussion that was causing the confusion:

Thank you very much
What type of Multiplayer is being tested on the Steam version? Coop, PvP, other?

Given the wording of his opening post, my understanding is that he uses the Steam version to test the multiplayer feature and it will make it's way to GOG once it's considered stable and complete.

This part of his post seems pretty self-explanatory to me concerning his intent:

"Gog version has not multiplayer because is a feature that is still unfinished. Steam has the "early access" section for testing unfinished games, but gog has not something similar and therefore I don't see appropiate to publish unfinished parts of the game that are still under construction.
