When you finish the game, it shows you how long it took you. So you might feel bad, if it took you a few months. ;-)

Can anyone confirm that the slasher is moving freely in the final chamber, when you take a really long time? I seem to remember so from my first playthrough, but that was ages ago. These days I always finish after one or two days and at that time the slasher is still bound in one place.
I'm pretty sure the Slasher won't ever be moving around unless you do something that "wakes him up" (like attack him). The only thing with taking a long time is that eventually the Avatar will lose track of how many days he's been in the dungeon and what time of day it is. Since these are entirely cosmetic, there is no time based penalty.

Have you ever tried to find out what gets displayed on end game card ("banished the Slasher after ... days"), when the Avatar loses track of time?

No, I just remember sleeping repeatedly to see how high the day count would get. It was many years ago, and I didn't try to win after that.
my fighter character keeps unarmed no matter what weapons i equip, anyone knows why?

Maybe your character is right-handed and you're equipping it in your character's left hand in the paperdoll?

The weapon needs to be functional (so equipping a broken sword does nothing for you), and you need to put it in the correct slot. There are four circles near the Avatar's head for holding stuff, and you need to put the weapon in the lower circle on the correct side. As christh99 said above, make sure you're putting it on the same side as the hand you chose to be dominant.

Also, make sure you aren't holding a mouse button. The game needs a moment to 'update' when you change weapons, and it won't do it if you're charging an attack.
