I'm a huge C64 fan from my days as a kid. I bought the Ultima 4/5/6 games from gog and use them on my mac without (I didn't see) a separate emulator. But there is no music and I was hoping for the original music. I bought the Mac version of these games and hoping there's a walk-through on how to fix/add music via a patch is such a fix exists for Mac users? Is there a resource I just didn't find? I'm afraid 6 pages of random posts (at top of this forum) was a bit daunting to search for an answer.

Help?

You are actually playing the DOS version in an emulator. The DOS version did not have music.

There is, however, an Ultima 4 Upgrade Patch available, which adds the music that other versions had, as well as allowing for a graphical update.

Note that the second link contains a link to a DOS version of an executable to allow it to run in straight DOS (and hence DOSBox), as well as a warning to create a character before installing the upgrade.

Thanks for the links. I saw the first one and notice it is asking me to tun batch files but I'm using a Mac. How would someone in my position (using a Mac) follow this tutorial?

Run the tutorial under DOSBox. DOSBox emulates a DOS environment, allowing you to run batch files.

Will do. When the files need to be placed into the same directory as Ultima, it's still unclear where that directory exists on a MAC since I bought this under the gog store and I'm opening Ultima app rather than DOSBox...

Here's the part I'm getting hung up at (not knowing where to place the file):
- Download the U4UPGRAD.ZIP file (632,072 bytes).
- Unzip to your Ultima IV directory.
- Run SETUP.BAT

On my Mac I dont have an Ultima 4 directory - just the standalone U4 app in my applications tab on my Mac. Running setup.bat assumes I'm running this in Windows...
