I am also on Ultima 2 and it seems the world is going in an endless loop when I use a ship it only lets me circle around what seems like an island if I go too far east,north,south,or west I just end up on the other side of the island.

Yes, that is true in all older Ultima games. You can wrap around. In ultima 2, depending on the age you are, the world is vastly different. See different maps for U2:
