I bought this game from GOG because I wanted to co op play this with my Son. First of all this game is NOT DRM free!
If you want to Multi-Play you have to get a key from GOG, then you have to register on the game server web site. Oh but the US servers have been taken off line. NO LAN. I did not buy this game for single play and now sadly that's all I can do. This game is just not good enough for that so I just thew away my money.

BE WARNED only buy this game is you want a lack luster single player RPG

Two Worlds and many other GOG releases share the same multiplayer servers as other versions of the game so a CD key has to be used. Allowing GOG players to connect with no CD key (or a pre-inserted one, the same for every player) would require the developer to make changes to their server architecture and/or give the GOG players separate servers from everyone else.

The CD key only applies to multiplayer functionality; no GOG release needs a CD key to unlock single player functionality.

Are you unable to connect to the European servers? I'm shown two of them in addition to the US server. I'm not sure what the lag would be like but it seemed OK for me connecting to the European servers even though I'm all the way over here in New Zealand. Anyway, it's worth trying.

Yeah, did not even try the EU servers. No desire to. Like I said I wanted to play co op with my Son so I just wasted 10 bucks.
The U.S. is offline, but the two European ones work. I'm in the USA, and I have no lag at all playing on them.

I have spare Two Worlds CD Keys if you would like one, so you and your son could play together. I played Two Worlds in multiplayer with a friend, and it's been pretty fun. It works well to co-op. The quests are not as exciting, however it still has fun moments. Just be careful, there can be tough monsters around even at low levels(is like that in single player too).

So let me know if you'd like one of my Two Worlds keys.

EDIT: By the way, I think the single player is fantastic, not lackluster. I'm a fan of olde school gameplay, and Two Worlds has a lot of olde school gameplay elements to it. Not all, mind you, only really during the 80's and early to mid 90's do you really find the real role playing games, but Two Worlds captures some of that, which makes it really fun to me. Even the boxart for several Two World releases look very 80's to me. Topware/Reality Pump always made good games, and for some reason they always had great music.

It sounds like you should be able to play co-op with your son on the EU servers. Worth a try, I think.

It is a shame that GOG does not clearly explain what you're getting for the mulriplayer component of the games in its catalog. These troubles are often unavoidable when dealing with the multiplayer component of older games, but GOG could be clearer about it.
I sent you the Two Worlds key Ludeman. Sorry that I didn't see your message till a little few hours later, I didn't know I had a message. This place doesn't let me know at all for whatever reason if I get a message.

Anyway, just letting you know here just in case you don't see it or something. Hope you have fun with your son!
Yeah I got it thank you so much :)
I have just the one key too, bought it for the same reason. Kinda cheeky GOG. If anyone has a spare key it would be much appreciated!

Check your game shelf under the installers. If it's not there and this is still a manual process then try this post.

On the recommendation to NOT buy Two Words, please allow me to differ: I own the game on Steam and find its single player campaign simply amazing and, frankly, better then Oblivion. Graphic-wise, Two Worlds looks better than Oblivion but worse than Skyrim. Gameplay-wise, you start very weak and if you attack enemies before you upgrade your skills and get better weapons and armor, you will get killed in a jiffy. But you can easily run away from any opponents. Use the right mouse button to black them with fire, run, black them again, run, etc. until their health is down to zero and they are dead. I am seven hours into the game and I am loving it.

Thank you Ludeman for this post! I was going to but multiple copies of this game for the same purpose as you but if you can't play LAN it's of no use to me. It's very irritating that they are listing these games as COOP but they don't mention that it can no longer be played as such. drf

Maybe you should read what the others said?

A statement such as that makes it out as if there is somehow absolutely no choice but to use a CD key. A CD key is only needed because it has been set up by GOG to need one, and it's done on purpose for some stupid reason. But to act as if there is not choice in the matter...BULLSHIT!

You have no understanding of how servers work, nor did you purchase a disc version of this game. Had you either of these things, you would know that the CD key was set by the dev, (Reality Pump) or the original publisher (Topware), and that a CD key for multiplayer is the unique identifier that allows you to connect tot he server and play. You cannot connect anonymously because the servers were not set up for that, they were set for a key, so GOG was allowed to generate new keys to use existing servers. I understand that you think this is some kind of slight, but as an owner of Two Worlds on disc as well as on GOG, I can tell you that the key requirement for multiplayer existed long before the game got to GOG. BTW, there are also ways around ti all together, but you would have to do your own research.
