Hi,

I know it is still a beta but there's some big issues.

Performance (main issue)
- The opening cinematic can stuttering to a point were it rans at 1 frame per second with graphic corruption on screen.
- The loading times are horrendous. Opening a door can lead to a 15 to 30 seconds loading. What is happening ?

Graphics :
- There's some strange flickering with some surfaces right at the start of the game, in the hero's house.

Controls / IU :
- The inventory screen can take 5 seconds to load.
- The Xbox 360 / One controller buttons doesn't show up in the Controls options nor ingame.

My rig :
CPU : Intel Core i5 4670k
GPU : GeForce 970 GTX (drivers : 39077 -up to date-)
RAM : 16 Go.

Hey there! Hopefully we can figure out what's going on here.
Are you running Windows 10? If so please see this guide and let me know if this helps:

Indeed, I'm running Windows 10. If I remember correctly, I already use Win10 Game Mode, but I'll give it a try later today, after work. Thanks :).
Hi, I recorded some gameplay with Game Mode activated (sadly can't write the link on the forums... The game is way smoother and some of the load times are shorter, but can still be very, very long.

And after a minute of gameplay, the inventory screen makes, again, more than 5 seconds to load.

Also, I added the controls scheme in JPG.

I'm glad Game Mode improved the performance. Not sure what's up with the long load times, though. What CPU do you have? Does the game perform better when you are not using recording software?

And as far as the controls issue - There is a tool included in the game folder called "Taw_controller_survey.exe" if you run that and send me the file it outputs I can figure out why your controller isn't being recognized. You can email it to robitgames@gmail.com

Failure in every possible ways. Poor optimization, no v-sync, terrible loading times, terrible inventory loading time, […] the final version is still a big mess. Please, fix this game […]
^ from the Review of Lutherian.959 on the game page

Did the devs/publisher provide any fixes since 2018-02?
Are loading times etc. still an issue?
Does VSYNC work by now?
If I buy the game it will use WINE. Does somebody have experience with that?

Actually, i launched and completed it on Wine. It was a while ago, but i certainly remember there being a major problem with one of the requirements. Again, it's been a while, but i think one of "vcrun" packages had to be installed, otherwise any rings on the map just floated off to the right infinitely, breaking the levels. It was the only "invisible" requirement, the others just showed up on launch (or on crash :P). Also, it was Ubuntu 16.04 at least, maybe newer. Performance about the same as on Windows. I don't suggest using the vsync executable, caused some unidentified sound issues for me.

Now that i also remember, that Wine version would also help you tremendously, but sadly, i have reinstalled my system more than once since then. If nothing works on your version, though, try a wine version manager and aim for something older. And here's some mildly inapproporiate real life advice: just get a dual boot of unactivated windows 10 and linux. WINE is a pain, i wasted a semester's worth of free time launching games with it (literally, i was launching and tweaking them and not playing), and only stopped when i realized that TAW was actually the first and only game i enjoyed after launching.

As for updates/fixes - i have a copy, and the last update was march 12, 2018. Performance wise, on my pc there were frame drops and lag in graphically intense areas (with many animated elements, i can actually remember no more than 2-3 places). Also take note that i completed this on a laptop with a 2.3ghz dual core cpu, puny by modern standards, and a crappy integrated graphics card.

It comes down more to whether you like this kind of game. And it hits a very special niche, trust me. I do, and was fine with some crust here and there, and the game actually became one of my few favorites. If you don't, it could run like a cheetah and you'd still hate it. :3

Thanks for the extensive answer! I'll think about buying TAW.
