Hi, this is one of my first times using GoG and it's unfortunately not going well. I cannot get this game to work. When I try to launch the game, the launcher pops up for a split second and then closes. I don't get any error messages (that I'm aware of), so I don't really have much to go off of for troubleshooting. I have reinstalled on a different drive to the same results. I have a gtx 1080 and an 8700k, so I am not lacking in terms of hardware capability.

I appreciate any help that anyone can give.

EDIT: I also tried to download and run Gwent and it's experiencing the exact same problem.

Not getting a play option after install. Wont launch Either
Bump
I've figured out the issue. I first found that the AppData folder contains crash log information. Specifically if you're having issues check the folder "C:\Users\*USER*\AppData\Local\Temp\CDProjektRED\Thronebreaker\Crashes\". Checking out the error I was receiving "UnityPlayer.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)
in module UnityPlayer.dll at 0033:2b8a382e.".

I googled this and found a steam board where they were talking about the error. A guy mentions that Citrix Receiver or Citrix Workspace can cause problems. I happened to have Citrix Workspace on my computer. After deleting it the game opens and runs as expected.

Thanks for this, it had been a while but neither Gwent nor Thronebreaker would launch anymore, and installed Citrix Receiver for work a couple weeks ago... Probably would be a good idea to put the crash log information in the Support page, under "Game won't launch"...
Same problem here. It was working yesterday but after rebooting PC it stopped working (same for Gwent). Tried updating video-drivers, repairing game in GOG, starting game as administrator - no luck. Using Windows 10. Launching game on laptop with connected second monitor - in case if this is important. These logs are generated:

Same issue this and with other games that run Unity Citrix gets in the way on about 5 other games, and 15 applications i have. Just uninstall the workspace and the game boots right up
I had the same problem launching this game. I unfortunately need Citrix Workspace because of work so I tried to find a solution. I found out that if you install Citrix Workspace via command prompt you can run the game.

1. Uninstall Citrix Workspace and reboot.

2. Use this command to install Citrix Workspace if you absolutely need it and want to be able to run this game.

CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe ADDLOCAL=ReceiverInside,ICA_Client,AM,SELFSERVICE,DesktopViewer,Flash,Vd3d,WebHelper,BrowserEngine

(there's a space after the executable name like a typical parameter)

I have Citrix Workspace v. 19.3.0.4(1903) installed.

I had this in the error log if someone else have the same error:

UnityPlayer.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005) in module UnityPlayer.dll at 0033:30f0382e.

Wow this actually Fixed it. Even 2 years later the game still has this problem.
I encountered the same issue: Thronebreaker won't run, Unity engine crashes. Windows Debugger shows an access violation.

It IS Citrix Workspace related. Thankfully this Steam Forums thread holds the solution:
[https: //steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/1743358239830363122/]

Two Options are given:

a) Reinstalll Citrix Workspace from command line with parameter:

CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe ADDLOCAL=ReceiverInside,ICA_Client,AM,SELFSERVICE,DesktopViewer,Flash,Vd3d,WebHelper,BrowserEngine

b) open up the Device Manager and disable the "Citrix Virtual Bus Enumerator". You might have to re-enable it to use Citrix.

I did not try option a) but b) worked fine. I disabled the Citrix Virtual Bus Enumerator and Thronebreaker started up fine (no reboot needed)

Ugh. Yellow card for CD Projekt Red for NOT being able to communicate this workaround on the offiicial support page. Their Citrix related workaround did not work, so i was wasting time actually using WinDebug to put myself back on trail.

Big thumbs up for the user community, though.
