Before Thief was on GOG I, ahm, "got" it (since I coulden't find it in stores). The game's main menue was static (but I could still hear the background sound and the sound of the mouse moving over the options, thats how I've managed to get into the game itself). Also, the game freezed few minutes after you start it, and it wasn't optimized to wide screen.

Are those problems got solved on the the GOG version ?

I have Win 7, 64 bit.

Generally, the GOG version runs mostly fine. But a few days ago, a new unofficial patch was released, that makes the game run absolutely PERFECT on modern systems. Check out the sticky thread for the patch and additional graphics enhancements: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/thief_series/tgfix_widescreen_resolutions_fixedimproved_graphics_etc/page1

Well, just bought it, hoping for good !
Just to confirm, the 1.19 patch that was released a few days ago makes the game run perfectly well with the GOG release (I'm playing it right now). As well as fixing the various bugs that GOG had to sort out, it adds higher resolutions, widescreen support, OpenAL audio, and other goodies. Definitely recommend installing it.
