I second that. Works great, installing is easy and it makes Thief gold and Thief 2 look SO much better! And you don't need the shitty Indeo codices anymore.

Just think of the fan missions you can make with this. The textures, the meshes!

And a much higher object limits. ttlg fan mission makers seem very thrilled.

do you think GoG will include this patch in future? They did include ddfix before, so I hope they consider it.

The problem is that unlike DDFix, the author of this patch is anonymous, and it's highly likely he's using leaked source code.

highly improbable. they included ddfix, but it was the old version, because the latest one has been rewritten by several people, and they weren't able to locate them and get all the permissions. no way they are going to include something that the Raven dropped.

but they can (and I assume they will) link the new stuff on gog wikia and the forums. in the end, everybody will get what he wants.. :)

Hey there .o/ You should edit that in the first post, for it is inaccurate.
Also, DDfix and DarkWideScreen already allowed this resolution and a few higher ones (1920x1200 and 2048x1536 could work with them).
But this "New Dark Engine" allows even higher resolutions — it unlocked 2560x1600 for the game on my 30" LCD :}

I'm impressed, this is a fantastic fix! At last I can properly enjoy this game. :D

I just stumbled onto the TTLG board about this patch. They're downright ecstatic over there!

This is a Very Good Thing. My problem is that I know next to nothing about fiddling with stuff like this, so all I can do is wait for my computer betters to make install able fixes and updates.

EDIT: Okay... are there any instructions on how this all works? Any documentation that explains how to change resolution, etc? I've moved all the files into my Thief 2 folder, replacing the pre-existing ones. I then tried editing the CFG files to add custom resolutions, but no results. It's kind of unclear what to do. Thanks!

EDIT 2: Okay, randomly got it working with uninstall & re-install. Not sure what changed but this is great!

Changing resolution should be a matter of going to the resolution settings in the game, as usual. You should now see a lot more resolution options than you used to.

For the more advanced settings, there is a new config file, which you need to edit with Notepad to enable them. I personally put 8x Anti-aliasing on, and also Bloom. The Dark engine looks great with such things!

Yup, you'll see from my edit of my last post that I got it working (somehow!).

Definitely going to do mess with the CFGs now.

Just to confirm, does this patch also work with Thief 1 Gold?

newDark is for all Dark engine games (thief 1, 2, system shock 2 )
you should use TGFix for Thief 1 (newDark is included there) and Tafferpatcher for Thief 2 (newDark also included)

I was excited to start using this but I get massive stutter in the game with it. Any ideas?
