Hmm I just noticed that the Thief_ND.exe provided by GOG for Thief Gold is not identical to NewDark 1.21's exe file — the one provided by GOG is 128,000 bytes bigger.
So I'm curious to know what the differences are.
the icon has been swapped.

voodoo47: the icon has been swapped.
Does the EXE have multiple icon sizes ? I am downloading the game right now, I can't check with Resource Hacker yet.

EDIT: The exe icon has been changed to the gfw_high icon from the old installer

nope, I have swapped just one icon, to avoid confusion (users seeing the T2 icon instead of T1 icon).

btw, there is a new GOG update for TG available, it should definitely fix the Mage Towers mission, and it also changes the name of the executable back to thief.exe, so TFix will be able to detect the game again.

Shout outs/thank yous go out to voodoo47 who has been more than awesome with the community and helping us out with everything Thief-related.

So, please, enjoy these newly-enhanced installers and let us know what you think... and don't forget to steal everything not nailed down :P
I noticed that Thief 2's NewDark upgrade has numerous frame drop problems and a complete lack of anti-aslising; not to mention no bugfixes what so ever. All of this is fixed in Thief GOLD (including the bugfixes) but Thief 2 is full of these problems. I was wondering if GOG can release an update for Thief 2 that addresses these problems, similar to the update you guys gave to Thief GOLD?

I have already submitted a cam_ext.cfg that fixes the uneven framerate and enables multisampling (just a bunch of on/off switches really, but hey, why not). maybe it got lost somewhere? will resubmit it through the ticket system when I get back from work.

as for the bugfixes, if there are critical/major bugs, drop a list on me and I'll have a look.

Could you add it as an attachment here? Don't feel like downloading the whole thing just for that ;)

Multisampling does not work well on older GPUs, which is why it's disabled by default.

it does not work well on gpus with broken drivers, which means just a couple of older intel gpus (new ones work fine). while OFF is indeed the safest option, you are decreasing the overall image quality just because of a small part of users which have inadequate hardware. but the choice is yours, of course.

will add the cfg when I get back from work.

Most of them are stuff like stuck loot and stuck guards. I've heard that there are some critical bugs latter in the game but I haven't reached it yet. I know that these are in the normal game but you gave GOG a buxfixed version of Thief GOLD to GOG; I just think Thief 2 should have a bug fixed version as well.

it has, it's available here (TafferPatcher needs to be installed). its quite impossible to replicate the thousands of bugfixes via the dml patch system, but as I've said, if someone supplies the list of critical bugs, I'm willing to have a look.

I notice that after installing Tafferpatcher there's now two executables in my T2 folder, thief2.exe and Thief2_ND.exe, does it matter which one I use?
