Every time I "steal" something of value (open a chest, pick up a goblet, etc), I hear a xylophone chime, but I don't get any visual indication of what I just picked up. It's especially confusing when I open a chest, hear the sound, but have no idea what I just picked up.

The same is true for picking up other things (apples, arrows, etc). Is this normal?

It's normal.
Goblets and other valuables have their monetary value added to your gold.
Apples and other foodstuffs add a bit to your health.

As above. Something isn't working correctly.

When you pick up items, a pop-up should appear showing what you just picked up with a numeric value attached.

How many of arrow X you just picked up; How much gold value that vase you just picked up was etc.

It's bugging me...
