Heard of Thief for years and always had an interest in playing it. It looks like a pretty cool (and frustrating) stealth game that i can get into. I played System Shock 2 from the same devs and loved it. Gotta give this one a go.

i have been searching about mods and see that a Taffer Pacther is needed, or a T2Fix which is an alternative to that. would like to know which is better. I read that these fix some things, and allow for additional mods. I wont mind the old graphics to be spruced up a bit, so so far I've found Thief 2 HD mod 1.0, and Thief Enhancement Pack 2.0. Which of these graphic mods to add?

And can these mods run on this laptop?

T2Fix is not an alternative, it's a replacement - TafferPatcher is deprecated and not maintained anymore. T2Fix with EP2 would be my recommendation to newbies, and to anyone really.

Do you know if it will run well enough on the laptop specs i posted?

the standard graphics preset (selectable when patching up with T2Fix) should work just fine - generally, as long as you stay away from any postprocessing effects, you can run the game on a toaster.

Okay. So does that mean i should stay away from the Thief Enhancement pack according to my laptop specs?

I've tried it on a much lower specs machine and the performance was acceptable - anyway, installing it and checking whether everything is fine should only take a minute.

Hey voodoo, need help on another thing. I used the search bar to see if it was discussed but didn't find anything.

Is it possible to play the game in fullscreen? Theres a black bar on each side of the screen. The graphics works fine so far, but it would be nice to get in fullscreen.

Edit: Woops. The game already does that. It was just the menus and movies that are black barred. Sorry about that.

any combination of black bars/no black bars is supported, explore cam_ext cfg variables if interested. but generally, fullscreen with proper aspect ratio for the game and black bars on the sides with proper aspect ratio for the menus is what you want.
