hello,

Today I saw that I have two different games in my gog directory, its W3 with DLC's and W3 GOTY so I have question is there any difference between those two games ?
Should I stop playing W3+DLC's and download GOTY or theres any differences ?

Regards

They are exactly the same games. The only difference is that the GOTY is all content in one installer. That's it.
I have been having unpredictable crashes to desktop without any error messages without warning with the GOTY version where I never previously experienced the issue. I haven't changed any hardware since, either.

I realize this is an older question and answer. And, thank you for answering the OP's question.

So, if I am understanding your answer correctly, the "Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The - Free DLC Program" is already included in the GOTY version? Is that correct?

I have the GOTY version, and was wondering if this DLC could be used with the GOTY version. Is it already included in the GOTY version?

Just to throw another wrinkle into the mix: If I have a game on Steam, can I use a DLC purchased on GoG, or elsewhere, with the related game on Steam? I would like to know if the reverse is possible, too. If I have a game on GoG, can I use a DLC purchased on Steam, or elsewhere, with the related game on GoG?

That is correct. The GOTY includes *everything*, all DLC and expansions.

No, they are rival platforms and mutually exclusive.

Thank you. That is what I thought, but figured I would ask the question anyway.
Okay I'm just going to piggy-back on this thread:
I only had the first DLC - Hearts of Stone and recently I noticed I have now received Blood and wine as well as a new entry in my library for the GOTY.
So my question is: Is removing the first install and all the DLC and then installing the GOTY going to remove one entry from my library or is just not worth doing so and just install the 2nd DLC onto my existing game?

Sort of confused why I have the GOTY ready to install when I hadn't bought the 2nd DLC or a season pass.

If your shelf says you own Blood and Wine, in which case (because you own the game and all DLC) you will have been given the GOTY gratis, then it's up to you what you do. The only thing to be aware of is that you have the same version of game/HoS/B&W if you choose to just install the final DLC. In other words, if your game and HoS is 1.31, then you can safely just install B&W.

I will say one thing, though: if it were me I'd want to know how I came by an expansion I didn't pay for.
They both say they're version 1.31A so I guess I've got everything that makes up the GOTY version already.
I just assumed I was gifted the 2nd DLC either by a friend or GOG for buying other games over the course of the year or something similar. I definitely didn't pirate it or any other illegal act. Can't recall any email or notification about me receiving it.
Thanks for the clarification, odd about the 2nd entry in Galaxy though, makes it look like another setup entirely.

I wasn't suggesting you pirated it at all. It wouldn't be on your shelf as 'owned' if it was pirated. I just meant, what if it was a mistake and they took it off again, or something similar?
No, no, I wasn't suggesting you were. Thanks for the input though.
Guess i will use this thread too.

Just to clarify something for me. I have The Witcher 3 from way back. No DLC yet. When i buy the Expansion Pass and install it over Galaxy, I will have the GOTY Edition? Nothing else to do for me?!

Thanks

Yes, when you own TW3 and all DLC you are given the GOTY. You do NOT need to uninstall the game in favour of the GOTY though. The GOTY does NOT update the game, it is the same game, just in one single installer.
How much does the original + addons in the GOG have installed size, with the original ENG voice acting?
---------------
On Steam "GOTY" (original game + addons set) there are directories \content\patch0 and patch1 with the weight of 1.09GB and 1.96GB, which are absent in the GOG GOTY. Also in the folder \content\content4\ there is a file streaming.cache weighing 6.06GB, which is also not in the GOG GOTY.
Thus, the Steam GOTY is 9.7GB more size.
