I got this because of the advertised Linux support, but I'm not seeing it in the downloads. A bit fearful, naturally, that I've wasted my money.
Any word on how/when this will be released?
Cheers.

Same here, Got it on pre-order when it had SteamOS/Linux listed as planned as well, and now it's only released for Windows. Any plans for the Linux version or should I ask for refund? (I don't have Windows anymore and I'm not planning to go back to it).

I am also waiting for the Linux version. An official statement concerning the status would be really appreciated.

Same boat here. Any news would be appreciated
Let's hope it'll be a good port. Witcher 3 on Windows runs better than Witcher 2 on Linux for me. Virtualization kills performance.
Even though it is not a solution to the releasing of the linux version try to get a partition or extra drive of around 80GB+ and install the preview edition of windows 10, you can play it right now on that for free.

Ditto.

I would have pre-ordered it (sure many others would have too) but there was never any official statement from CDPR... despite Steam advertising it on 2 occasions...

Guys?

The only place I've ever seen the game advertised with Linux support was for the first day or two when the pre-order was on Steam, it listed SteamOS+Linux as supported, and then that was removed a few days later which indicates someone made a mistake at Valve IMHO. I've never heard CDPR indicate anywhere in any interviews or other materials any official statements that platforms other than Windows and consoles would be supported however. If someone has any links to videos of CDPR folk or interviews with them claiming that Linux was a targeted platform and could share the links it would be good news to hear though. Other than that, it was a promo glitch on Steam and I wouldn't expect it to happen unless they come out and officially announce plans to do so at some point.

If you bought the game from Steam while it had Linux support listed expecting Linux support hopefully Valve will refund your money though.

Not the only time: it was also listed again when Steam did a big SteamOS announcement (and sale) more recently...

Sounds like Steam should be more careful about mislabelling games like that then or people may get their hopes up and possibly misdirect their disappointment etc. towards CDPR.

On an up note though, they did release Witcher 2 for Linux IIRC, although I think people said it was a winelib port or something and not stable. No experience with that myself though. Hopefully they do make a native Linux port of the game though, it'd be a huge thing for Linux to get that for sure.

Yeah, guess they should be more careful ;)

They did indeed release The Witcher 2 for Linux - for which they got a second sale from me! I haven't purchased W3 yet but I will as soon as it's released for Linux, you can bet on that!

In resonse to other posts in this thread: Yes, W2Linux was a 'wrapped' (using eON) version that was poor to start with but in the end was, tbh, really good... so good in fact that on my setup (nothing that recent: old, old i7 and a GTX670) it now runs so well I don't really notice any difference to it running on Win (I ran the game originally on Win when it was released - I don't have a Win install anymore)!

Well, lets look at it like this: There's no OS X version either currently... I personally believe it will be coming to both platforms in due course :)
My Linux version of Witcher 2 is still so bad that I have to play it in lowest quality to make it almost playable, while I can play it High on Windows.

Interesting - I play it on High here and it's absolutely fine... what distro are you using - out of date drivers?

Ubuntu 14.04 and Nvidia 340.x drivers.
I also have Ubuntu 14.04 (because it's an LTS version), and played it on high wit my GTX760 and 340.x drivers. It runs without problems. Only recently I have updated the drivers because the older 340.x drivers did not support my new GTX970. I still have to try the game, but I have no reason to think it would not run.

About the Linux version of TW3..

I think it's an long way off for now. The developers are still busy bug hunting, and work on the expansions will take an lot of resources too. It would really surprise me if we see the Linux version this year. I think an Q3 or Q4 in 2016 would be more realistic.

That said, I am not really sure if there will ever be an Linux version, because -honestly- the developers have never made any claim they would make it. All talk about that Linux version is only based on rumors and (as said) some very brief appearances on Steam. Here on the gog website it was never advertised as such, and thus it cannot be expected to be present...

Anyway - even as I am an long time Linux user (started with some Slackware floppy's around 1993), I still have an dual boot system only for those few programs (mostly DAW's) that won't run even with wine. I would love to switch to an Linux only system, but I am realistic enough to admit this is not fully possible (yet). So - Still having Windows on an spare partition makes it possible play TW3 at least under Windows.
