The new "Next Gen update" is worrying me because we are at 2-3 day before it replaces the "goty" version and we don't know the specifics needed or the Disk space needed and is the visual update an option you can switch in game or permanent that you can't change?
The second point, they introduced some mod like "Nitpicker's Patch" and many other, why not the mod "Brothers In Arms"? If a mod needs to be incorporated, this is the one.

Simple solution: Keep the last version installers before the next-gen update and you have both. Or am I missing something? Doesn’t the current version work offline without galaxy?

Luckily I have a complete and current offline backup of all my gog games, so this “upgrade” won’t bother me.

You always had the choice to download and keep backups of the offline installers. I recommend you to do it before the update comes. This is no secret knowlege, by the way. You simply chose not to do it.

I have my game setup the way I want MY Game to be. CDPROJECTRED, you screw it with auto updates you come here and fix it.

Give me the CHOICE to change MY game. MY purchased and paid for game. The one I bought from you. That I now own.

If you have ever perceived, I have given you permission to change my game I rescind it here and now.

I was looking forward to the new changes. I PRESUMMED it would be a new game. "Witcher 3 Ultimate version". Not we'll update it no matter what you want.

Or if you have mods in it put them in the mod folder so they can be removed. IF I don't want them.

I had enough with Bethesda stopping me from playing Skyrim SE unless I updated it to the next version. I had it exactly the way I wanted it. Hours of trial and error with various mods.

Thanks to the rollback that modders made I can now. But it took a darn long time for the moding community to sort it out. And we lost many modders who had great mods because of Bethesda's bullying. They will be missed. They are already missed.

Yeah 4-vektor, thanks. Did that a while ago. Wanted to install up to the Willis glitch to see if it still worked. It does.
Also got the original CD's. But you need some online files to start the game.

It's the auto update that has me concerned. I can see me forgetting and starting the GOG interface without renaming the directory.

Thank you all who answered my initial post., for all your help and understanding.

Certainly, didn't suspect what I wrote to pull what it did.

An eye opener.

Just goes to show. Even at my age, I have some growing up to do.

Wonder what'll come first death by old age or wisdom?

Anyone else get peeved when doing the Toussaint quests. At the finish they put Geralt to sleep for a day. So, we have to go back to where we were to get the loot?

I'd forgotten it until I did a few today. Quite jarring the first time early this arvo. Just plain annoying tonight.

What seems clear?
That the version being sold is always the latest version?
Just like when the GOTY Edition replaced the original release.

I already have two versions of W3; The original release, and the GOTY Edition in my library.
No reason to assume it will be any different this time, plus you can grab an offline installer just in case.

No reason to assume it will be any different this time, plus you can grab an offline installer just in case.
It's said the new Complete Edition will replace the GOTY. When you bought/buy TW3 and the expansions, you'll also automatically get the GOTY in your library. To my knowledge it doesn't work the other way around.
Grab the offline installers and you'll be sure you can always get back to that version if you prefer it over the new one.

No it will likely be a completely separate install, but even if it's an update you still have to install the patch.

If you have a modded game keep that installed, and install the Complete Edition Separately.

You can get an offline installer for previous versions via Galaxy Extras Tab, or direct from the website, without Galaxy.

It won't be available until 0:00 Hrs 14th Dec 2022 approximately 21minutes 17 seconds away, but whose counting?

Has anyone been able to install the update yet? I installed the GOTY edition, but for some reason it will not download the update. My game is still at 1.32.

Edit: NEVERMIND, CDPR actually pulled trough this time, you can download legacy installers of the GOTY and regular version and it's DLC's. That's actually a great, if unexpected, addition, especially after what they did with Cyberpunk's patches.
