LePeureux: Really loved the original but couldnt get into this one (or the 2nd). I have waited a long time to give it a shot because I thought how can the series possibly recover from the dumbing down of the 2nd title, but people were saying it was better and stuff.
Overall the game felt way too much hollywood for me, with dialogues cutscenes giving me an urge to skip them rather than immerse me in the world. Story was uninteresting, feeling more of a remake of W1 rather than a sequel the way the whole witcher concept seemed to be reintroduced. Like mundane starting quests such as hunting a simpe gryffon for such an experienced witcher, the cliché moment of rednecks picking a fight outside the inn (reminded me of KotoR, which still felt stupid years ago). The overall eerie tone for a witcher universe. The way the very first true NPC encounter past the tutorial seems to open up a romance option (herbalist telling Geralt something like come back later for more or smth).

im giving you a serious answer to your question - pretty unusual nowadays, i know.
I am not that surprised that you couldnt get into the game at start. That is the same thing what happened to me. Everyone was talking about witcher 3 here witcher 3 there. Ok - i decided to buy it.... played it for 30 minutes and thought: thanks for wasting my money. Like a year later i decided to give it a try again.
Well lets be honest: im someone who HATES going mainstream - when something isnt talked about DAILY anymore i could like it if its good. But thats a bit off topic.
When i started to play witcher 3 again i started new game again no saves did exist.
I was smashing the A button through the WALLS OF TEXT that kept hitting me in my face. It was the tutorial text and some help notifications which explain you how the game works. And after it when i was finally able to play by my own without text popping out here and there: the game got me. it got me so hard i was thinking what would i do if it wouldnt exist anymore :D.
For me it is very close to a masterpiece and for sure the best game out there in its genre. I find it very hard to play any other RPG at the moment since Witcher 3 got me like a Succubus.
But I am surprised that even, after playing it for so long, the game wasnt able to make you lovin it.
Thats it. Have a nice day!
skeezex: Witcher 3 won't play because it says my GPU doesn't support direct X 11, but when I run dxdiag, it tells me the GPU is running direct X 11--help???
Hey skeezex, First of all you might be in the wrong location to post your issues with running the game.
And second: id rather not give you any tech advice, it may cause serious damage to your computer :D
