LePeureux: Really loved the original but couldnt get into this one (or the 2nd). I have waited a long time to give it a shot because I thought how can the series possibly recover from the dumbing down of the 2nd title, but people were saying it was better and stuff.

Overall the game felt way too much hollywood for me, with dialogues cutscenes giving me an urge to skip them rather than immerse me in the world. Story was uninteresting, feeling more of a remake of W1 rather than a sequel the way the whole witcher concept seemed to be reintroduced. Like mundane starting quests such as hunting a simpe gryffon for such an experienced witcher, the cliché moment of rednecks picking a fight outside the inn (reminded me of KotoR, which still felt stupid years ago). The overall eerie tone for a witcher universe. The way the very first true NPC encounter past the tutorial seems to open up a romance option (herbalist telling Geralt something like come back later for more or smth).
Hey LePeureux,
im giving you a serious answer to your question - pretty unusual nowadays, i know.

I am not that surprised that you couldnt get into the game at start. That is the same thing what happened to me. Everyone was talking about witcher 3 here witcher 3 there. Ok - i decided to buy it.... played it for 30 minutes and thought: thanks for wasting my money. Like a year later i decided to give it a try again.

Well lets be honest: im someone who HATES going mainstream - when something isnt talked about DAILY anymore i could like it if its good. But thats a bit off topic.

When i started to play witcher 3 again i started new game again no saves did exist.
I was smashing the A button through the WALLS OF TEXT that kept hitting me in my face. It was the tutorial text and some help notifications which explain you how the game works. And after it when i was finally able to play by my own without text popping out here and there: the game got me. it got me so hard i was thinking what would i do if it wouldnt exist anymore :D.

For me it is very close to a masterpiece and for sure the best game out there in its genre. I find it very hard to play any other RPG at the moment since Witcher 3 got me like a Succubus.

But I am surprised that even, after playing it for so long, the game wasnt able to make you lovin it.

Thats it. Have a nice day!

skeezex: Witcher 3 won't play because it says my GPU doesn't support direct X 11, but when I run dxdiag, it tells me the GPU is running direct X 11--help???
Hey skeezex,

First of all you might be in the wrong location to post your issues with running the game.
And second: id rather not give you any tech advice, it may cause serious damage to your computer :D

Hickory: Strange that you're in a very small minority with that view. Even your question proposes such.
avatar
LePeureux: Im a minority because most gamers are only aware of the current gen.
I'm nearing 40 years old. I've been an avid RPG fan for most of my life. I've seen a thing or two. The Witcher 3 is the best god damned RPG I've ever played and not by a small margin. It blows away the nearest competition. I don't know what your problem is, but it seems like you're just complaining for the sake of complaining. If you don't like the game, fine. Move on. I don't care if people don't like the game. Even the worlds greatest RPG will not be somebody's cup of tea, but the way in which you're phrasing things here has me borderline-thinking that you're just trolling. Something just feels off about your specific criticisms.

In case you aren't trolling, let me point out one major error I see that you've made:

Hickory: You need a button mashing game.
avatar
LePeureux: The Witcher 3 pretty much is a button mashing game
If you think that, then here's your problem. This game is the furthest from button mashing as you can get. If that's what you're doing, then you're doing it wrong and you probably won't enjoy it.

Complaining for the sake of it??? NOPE! Id rather be enjoying the game but im unable to. It feels too dumbed down.

The combat is much less strategic and involves too much rolling around. Dialogue is cheap and stretched for the sake of adding filler. The game simply does not have a soul.

You obviously havent played many good RPGs. The BG/Fallout series both take a huge dump all over the Witcher 1 which is FAR better than W3.

Yea. You're definitely doing it wrong.

Or trolling. That's looking more plausible. You seem to be trying to be as inflamatory as possible. Forgive me if I mute you now.

Honestly you're just a little offended fanboy unable to take criticism or properly express his opinion. Yeah just 'mute' me and save yourself the trouble of formulating proper argument. The rest of what I said remains true.

Two words: Bloody Baron.
You don't like TW3, LePeureux? Ah, it's a pity. But really: Who cares?

Yawn.

Sry.

What GPU do you have exactly?
dxdiag will tell you, you have the software support for DirectX 11.
But your GPU may not meet the hardware requirements to run DirectX 11 features.

Muhahahaha! Do you confuse it with sincere condolences??? Fufufufufu.

Aaaaah, LePeureux, you are so easy to read. Look! Even your conspecifics seem to be dissatisfied:

It seems you already made up your mind before you started the game and decided to dislike it. If you're serious about trying the game, it helped for me to leave White Orchard. Once you reach the next areas the world really opens up and becomes much more interesting.
