I decided to play on hard. I checked multiple times if the difficuty was selected, but apperently it is. I one hit everyone in the Prolog and I am almost at the end of chapter 1 now. I did every sidequest so I leveled quite a bit, but I havn't been in a dangerous situation a single time. I do have very good weapons at the moment, but the game just seems to easy at the moment. Anybody can confirm that hard is indeed that easy? I am not sure if my game is bugged or I am supposed to kill the Endryagen Queens in 4 hits with the basic silver sword. :|

Yeah that sounds off, especially one-hitting people in the prologue. it should take a lot of hits to bring them down, especially the armored knights. But I've never heard of difficulty settings not working properly, so I don't know how to fix it. Anyonw else have any ideas?
Do you have any mods installed, or have you in the past? I remember there being a problem with certain mods, most notably the Full Combat Rebalance and Lykaon mods, that sometimes bumped up your stats to ungodly levels (even after being uninstalled, thanks to some leftover files). Here are a couple threads about it on the official forums: link2

The solutions seem to revolve mostly around deleting certain folders, and if that doesn't work, reinstalling the game and starting a new save.

No, I only installed the GOG.com version and that's it. I edited the User.ini to swap 2 key bindings, but that's it.
If I recall correctly I never installed the game on this machine before. I only played it on my laptop before.

Did you install the most recent version or one from a backup? One of the last patches included some popular mods, so I suppose it's possible that one of those didn't install correctly. The hard difficulty definitely isn't supposed to be like that, though; enemies in the prologue take several hits to kill even on the normal difficulty.

The mods are only some items and missions afaik. Like some starting equipment etc. I don't think they are the problem.

List of the DLC's:

/EDIT:
I tried starting a new game on Dark difficulty and I still one hitted everyone in the Prolog. I'll try to reinstall the game.

/EDIT:
Reinstall didn't help. Even starting a new game didn't help.
I even deactivated all DLC. Still 1 hit in Prolog. :(

!SOLUTION FOUND!

The solution is to turn off the extreme_quality_flora mod that apperintly comes with the game. Just uncheck it in the launcher under "Mods". Then start a new game and the damage should be fixed. It sadly doesn't seem to work with older saves so I assume I will have to start a new game sadly :(

Glad you figured it out! It's too bad you have to start over but it sounds like you hadn't gotten too far yet anyway. And this time you can enjoy the game with a proper challenge! Be warned, the prologue is actually really tough on Hard and above. But you've had some practice with the game now so that will help.

Yeah it's not too bad. I just wonder why this simple mod that afaik just enhances the distance flora is seen causes this problem O.o
