Yiuca: Ha, so I weren't imagining it... Sometimes when I play (I'm still only at the start because I replayed through the first Witcher but around a busy schedule) and noticed that sometimes when I press something it doesn't do anything, etc. I didn't know whether I were just failing or imagining it or not.
The main thing that bothers me though is the save/load system, first I like to be able to overwrite saves so I can keep only a few saves, second I like to be able to delete saves within game, sure I can delete outside of it and that's not really more difficult but it is inconvenient when one considers the last game had that very functionality. It's a minor gripe and I'd be able to live with it if they just fix the more pressing issues with the game but still it's something for the list to maybe change in future.
Yes, I second that!. The game save system was not entirely thought through and I suspect it suffered from late delivery dates. Why else would you not create an interface to allow recycling of save slots, and collect files that slow game loading, and bloated files on the hard disk. (Just because we have 1 TB drive doesn't mean you should waste space, even with compression) or waste time in sorting through all those save files. (it takes 40 seocnds last time I loaded a saved game)
Coelocanth: I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. They specifically mention 4:3 support and
only 4:3 support. If they were going to throw in other resolutions, it would be more logical for them to just state 'the fix will include support for various resolutions'.
And as much as I'd like to see 16:10 resolution support though, I think some of the other issues reported in this thread are more urgent. I'm willing to wait for full support for my 1920x1200 monitor.
CaptainKremin: Some CDP chick has confirmed on their site that 16:10 will be included in the fix.
As for mouse and keyboard input problems.. that what happens when you use software transition overlay instead of hardware input.... another case of console design causing problems for PC users.
I had always suspected that a lot of the errors were due to trying to design a game for consoles rather than a PC even though CDP kept saying (we're focused, on PC, we're focused on PC...). I even mentioned that possiblity. I don't know if you have concrete evidence (aside from symptoms) but if so, thanks for mentioning it. I think we may have all been used as people who were suckered into paying to do testing work a game developer generally does BEFORE release. (See Tom Sawyer, whitewash chapter, by Samuel Clemens). I had read that TW1 was "unplayable" before the Enhanced Edition so perhaps this is how CDP has always done things, but it leaves a bad taste in one's mouth regardless. Fair number of what I preceive as experiments in design, programming, business and DRM/near-drm mechanisms. All this, and a story which while good, in some ways was not as epic as the first game. (Music in the first game was significantly better in my opinion too). Especially the pub music ("Tavern at the end of the world" rocks)
