Has anyone else encountered this problem? My Witcher EE and saves are still in their default location, yet I keep getting that message when I try to select Import on the New Game menu :(

I'm having that issue too. I think it's due to me running Win7 64-bit. I'm sure there's some "default folder" we're supposed to put saves in so TW2 can find them, but I don't know what it is.

The Witcher official site offers this:
"The Witcher 2 will automatically import the saves from the end of the first Witcher game only if they are located in the default folder:
...\My Documents\The Witcher\saves"

However, that is exactly where mine are saved. I don't want to start until I can import my saves :(

Are you using Windows 7? If so, this thread might be of use to you: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/question_for_those_with_save_import_issues

That's where mine are too, so I have no idea. I started a game on easy just to get the hang of the new combat and whatnot, but I'm hoping this issue will be fixed by tomorrow when I can really sink my teeth in to this game.
At least you people have your Witcher 1 saves. I'm kicking myself for deleting them after I finished the game.

Dead_Fish's post from the other thread totally fixed my problem. Loaded up my "Order of the Flaming Rose" autosave, went to the Ice Fields, then manually saved the game. Now I can import.
I can confirm as well, save when your in the Ice Fields, then Witcher 2 will recognize your Witcher 1 save!
Confirming that manually saving in the Ice Fields works for me.

Search the forums and the web - there are already saves uploaded by friendly souls :-)

Since i last played TW1 in 2007, I would have to reinstall the game in order to try this.
Do i need to patch my game all the way to 1.5 for this or can i just install - load - save - import into TW2 without any patching?
It took me a day to install, register the game and get the DLC and pre-order bonus, now all i need to figure out is the issue above.

Do i need to fully patch TW1 to create this magical working save game?
Or have they fixed the issue in the mean time?

Not me. I've got 10 saves in the Ice Plains, still won't recognize.
There's another thread where they talk about this issue. Some people have bugged quests, and then the game doesn't recognize them. You can fix the bugged quest using the saved game editor or download someone else's saved game.

Check out this thread for help in fixing your saved game: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/witcher_save_games

Also, I've uploaded a saved game that imports fine, here: http://www.mediafire.com/?vel4avt5x1nk12e Using that game, you start the game with Aerondight, Gwalhir, Raven's Armor, and some orens. I sided with the Scoia'tael, gave Alvin to Triss, and saved Adda from the striga curse.

Corylea, do you know where the witcher editor can be dl'd from? I checked out CDP's website and Support but didnt' see it.

UPDATE: found it here http://sites.google.com/site/ronsworkspace/GameUtilities/witcher

The procedure outlined by Yakkuz on p.3 of the thread listed above WORKED for me! My "Ashes of Vizima" quest was Started, but not Completed. Following that procedure worked. You'll need to download a savefile that is known to work... or maybe someone can just upload the q6001_wyzim.qst file to paste into your unpacked save.

Thanks!
