I'm torn. I'm curious to hear other people talk this out with me to see if I can get a better idea of what to try.

Have any of you tried using controllers for RPGs like this? I haven't, i've always been a KB&M guy. I just can't see how you would fluidly navigate the interface without the mouse.

However, especially now with a new engine it looks like we won't have the pause feature, I feel like a controller might be better at managing all the abilities for quick combat tactics.

Do you think combat will be that much better with a controller? Is it worth a potential headache with interface navigation?

Perhaps someone who has played Mass Effect or Dragon Age on consoles can give some input?
i'll probably sit on my couch and use the controller.
never will i go to a controller to play any type of game... they are awkward and clumsy to maneuver the main character with... kb & mouse is the only way to play... trust me on this... i have used both in games...

Playing with WASD keys can be painful. You can only move in 8 different directions and always at same speed. With an analogic pad, you can move to any direction at any speed. Trust me, I have a Merc Stealth keyboard and a Logitech G5 mouse and I prefer to play with a 360 controller with every game I can, even FPS.
Controllers? Where we're going, we don't need controllers.

A year has passed since i bought my xbox and i'm still unable to aim properly using those damn analog sticks. I guess it's just beyond me.

Some games like action RPG's, sports, driving Etc are great with a controller but FPS are a different thing NOBODY is ever gonna tell me they can aim as fast with a pad as someone with a M&KB,unless the game has Auto aim for a pad.I will defo play this with a pad just so i can sit back and chill out and not have to lean over my desk :).

FPS with a controller? Please...

K+M will stomp a controller every time, no comparison to be made. A good gaming mouse is so much more precise and fast.
I guess it's all about training. I started playing FPS with keyboard+mouse on Quake 1, but since I got a Xbox and played a lot of FPS with controller, I've been unable to use keyboard and mouse again. For me, moving while shooting is A LOT easier with a controller than with a keyboard+mouse.
mouse + keyboard... AAAAAAALLLLLWWWWAAAAAYYYYSSSSSS!
Is this REALLY going to be controlled by WASD. Oh, I hope not.

Always? For sure? Try to play God of War or Street Fighter IV with a keyboard+mouse...

Don't be so close minded, please ¬¬
Key board and Mouse here. I would only ever use a controller for platforming games, figher games and maybe racing games.

Figures though that those are all genres I don't really like that much.

Still KB+M. Heck, with a good gaming keyboard, you can pull off all those fancy button combos with 100% reliability, far better than any controller.
