Hi guys, sorry about my not so good english but I have a very important question for you. I am not myself a big The Witcher player, but I am living with a 26 years old girl that LOVES The Witcher.

After she bored me to death playing facebook games, I offered her Plant vs Zombies. She did the game like 6 times.

After that she asked for a role playing game but not so complicated. I bought Fable for her. She liked, but it was a bit... too light.

So here I go. I bought the Witcher. After she struggled a bit with the game system, a bit of anger because he PC was not able to run it at full spec, she did it in easy. Then she redid it but in normal. Then she bought ALL the books (and shit they are expensive, I offered her two of them) and read all of them and is waiting for the last one that will be published this summer in France. So she is doing The Witcher in hard now... Yeah silly girls.

And in one month, The Witcher 2. She's connected to the facebook page, is watching everything that's coming from CDprojekt. And she saw the preorder and was angry : WHY NO POLISH LANGUAGE ?

She made the game in Polish because it was a polish game, she considers that everything should be played/watched in original language. The Witcher is a Polish game in a very Polish oriented fantasy world. So playing it in english or french... ? What ?

Come on CD Projekt !

During one year I struggled to make my girl going out of facebook games, she is now a big fan of the universes, she dreams of Geralt some nights...
Is their a version of the game with polish language somewhere that I can preorder ? Or is the polish version totally forgotten ?

Dear Thomasorus, welcome to the forums and don't worry about your English! It's really fine, and most of us here are not native speakers either.

First of all congrats on having a gamer-girlfriend who appreciates foreign games as they are! Don't let go of such a precious gem, and go tell her we, the Internet-People said 'hi, you're awesome!' ;-)

As for the matter at hand, this issue has been raised multiple times here, as well as on the official TW2 forums.

At the current moment it seems than none of the digital versions of the game that are available for pre-ordering will support Polish. There is a possibility that CDPR will issue a language pack/patch, since they have already done so for TW1. While this is not certain nor official, one CDPR employee hav commented favourably on this already (quoted here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/original_language_version/post18). There might be some licencing issues/contract clauses with outside publishers we don't know about, and it has been mentioned that the targeted markets generally don't care about Polish voiceover, while the Polish market is treated in a separate way altogether (concentration on relatively cheaper retail versions). If you want, you should head over to TW2 forums, and bump the topics about the availability of the Polish language, maybe write a new one, to give a clear signal directly to CDPR.

After release some Polish retail versions will surely hit stores that ship outside Poland (like EmPiK) and while the shipping costs might be quite high, I've already mentioned that the price of the game itself is considerably lower (around 25E for the Premium and 55E for the Collectors' Edition) so this will be a viable option. If you have someone you can trust over here this is even more true, as they might simply go to a store, buy the game for you, and send via snail-mail.

The last thing I'd like to add is that in a recent interview Tomek Gop of CDPR mentioned that the dialogues for TW2 are simultaneously written in Polish and English, the latter being done by a native speaker. This will mean, that the quality of the foreign versions should be much better than it was in the case of TW1. Further translations (I guess French as well) are being done based on both the Polish and English dialogues.

Edit:

Here are the links to one of the earliest posts concerning the Polish dubbed digital versions on TW2 forums: http://tw2.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=30740.0

They've had some server/gog key problems, they're fixing it now. Should be up soon, no worries!
Hey, it's just a few threads away. Basically they are working on it and we will see the Polish language pack soon.

Yeah, i bought the game here because it was promised a few times that we'll be able to download polish language pack at launch. I'll wait a few days because i trust CD Projekt and GOG, but if it doesn't happen i'm going to be really angry and dissapointed.

It will, the pack is up for versions other than gog's so fixing it should be easy. And they have offices next door to each other, so GoG can keep nagging them and making office pranks until they do.
