Here are my specs:

GPU: NVIDIA GEFORCE 920M
CPU: Intel Core i5-5200U, 2,7GHz
RAM: 6.00 GB
OS: Windows 10 64-bit

I installed the game and it's really slow, unless I change the resolution to 800x600. Is it my laptop that simply can't run the game or is it something else?

Thanks.

Most likely is your laptop to blame. It has been said many times that laptops aren't the best gaming machines; they don't have the required "horsepower" to run the more demanding applications such as 3D games. And while 6GB of RAM are enough for most applications, your laptop's GPU & CPU isn't what you could call "fast".

Witcher 2 is a fairly "heavy" game with lots of post processing going on (if you enable it of course), that require a decent GPU to be able to crank all the details to the maximum. If playing the game @ 800x600 isn't your thing, try "playing" with the graphics options a bit until you find the sweet spot between performance and quality.

If you're already at "Low" settings, i'm afraid you can't do much but make sure you visit the next link, it's a very good tweaking guide that should help you to get the best performance in Witcher 2.

Thanks for the help. I guess I'll just have to wait until I finish college (and I just started, oh boy...) so I can build me a gaming PC.

Well, don't worry since GOG have many other awesome games that you can definitely play without a problem in your laptop. Just put the Witcher 2 in your backlog for now and play something else until you build a nice gaming rig!

Cheers & good luck for college! :)
Do have Übersampling enabled, if yes deactivate that it tortures your graphic card if it's too weak and it's for some reason enabled by default.

It just seems a bit wierd, I know laptops are worse for gaming but my 5 year old 400€ PC (400€ back then not now) was able to run it on high settings. and 1600x900.
I don't have any more specific data about those parts of yours and I'm too lazy to look it up so I might be wrong, it's just a guess.

Out of curiosity, can you elaborate on the specifications of your 400 € PC? (CPU, GPU, RAM, Motherboard & HDD)

It was a prebuild Peckard Bell PC with a replaced graphic card (I got it quiet cheap the PC was about 200€ and the graphic card I bought 4-5 years ago also costed about 200€), I don remember the CPU it was an AMD quadcore with 2.4 GHz per core, 4GB RAM and a 560 Ti (slightly overclocked). I have no idea about the main board, like I said it was a prebuilt PC it was some special peckard Bell mainboard.
The HDD, I don't know it was a normal 1TB HDD which I still use in my new PC (this time a self built High end PC).

like I said I have know idea how bad the parts of his device really are I never cared about parts of laptops, I know they're worse then PC parts but it's still hard to imagine that it's that bad.

Ah, I thought the price you wrote was for a new machine, not a secondhand one! Because, honestly, I can't see any machine with a retail price of 400€ to be able to run Witcher 2 in high settings & in that resolution! And that 560 Ti was a fairly good GPU by that time and it was the reason W2 ran perfectly in your system.

It was a new system, it was just a special offer by Aldi (Discounter).

200€ for a machine with specs like that, five years ago? Not even a dual core w/ 2GB RAM, a decent case & PSU would sell for so low.. A f#$# great offer.

That's why I bought it, I usually build my PCs myself but if there's such an offer where you only need a new card and case (I was able to use the one of one of my older PCs)....
