I cant find him the blood trail just disappears at the butcher
Not sure what blood trail you're talking about, something related to some quest? I found out I needed some crafting recipe from him, so I sought him out for that, he was up on a tree platform, you can climb a ladder to reach him there.

JuFro: I cant find him the blood trail just disappears at the butcher
Heres a nice good hint.

Cat potion.

Also, yeah you picked up the wrong trail, trace back to the inn, drink cat potion, and have fun being confused a lot more, theres many trails around in a war ;)
I need help with this too. I tried the cat potion, there is one trail that leads straight from the inn across the courtyard and out to the village. From there I follow the trail and it diverges at one point but both are dead ends. One leads to the dead human and the other to a place where there was a massacre.

Any hints to the exact location would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
I think it's beautiful arond the waterfall, maybe Cedric thinks so too :>.
This is where I found him.

Doing the Kayran mission (blatantly Kraken.. haven't done it yet though) and from the map screen, go directly right out in to the wilderness (double door's from the hanging) and you should see a wooden pathway in the tree's. Look left and you should see some peasant houses. You should also see a wooden ledge that looks like you can climb it, around the back of that is a ladder, after climbing that is another ladder, you should then see Cedric, the elf. A mini cut scene then play.

That should be right. I'll double check that in-game and if I'm wrong i'll edit this post.
thanks for the replies. I finally found the poor bast.
It is easier than all that...

After the scene where the kayran gets zapped by Sile, the sorceress, there is some dialog, and she tells you talk to the merchants on the waterfront. With the water to your right side, you walk along the wooden walkway and end up talking to some shady character that wants something (another quest), keep walking and you will come up to a guy called "merchant".

After talking to him and getting a quest update, go to the door to leave the town. The door I am talking about actually leads to an outdoor corridor with a guard or two in it and one or two practice dummies. At the end of the corridor, is the actual door to leave the town.

Start walking to it and Triss will come out of nowhere and talk to you. During the dialog, mention that you are looking for Cedric, and she ends up saying "Well let's go see him then". She then goes through the door leading back into town. Keep following her and she will lead you all the way and up a ladder to Cedric.

No need for potions or confusion...

Use cat and follow the blood trail towards the waterfall
I used Cat potion. I went all the way to the waterfall (although no blood trail was leading there). Cedric is still nowhere. The Wikia page says, he's near the waterfall. I'm at the waterfall. Then I watched the embedded video. It edits out the part how he finds Cedric.

Seriously, this should've been a straightforward quest, like in Batman Arkham Asylum or Arkham City. But, no, I have to follow a blood trail in the middle of a riot. Who's idea was this? I'm still looking forward if there will be any good parts in this game. Like the ones part 1 had.

There's a big tree just at the northwest corner of the lake. Cedric is lying under the tree, not particularly well hidden but you might miss him unless you walk right up to him.

If you want straightforward quests with hand holding, you need to adjust your expectations to get anywhere with this game. You're looking for a wounded elf who is hiding. It's bloody well not supposed to be easy.

I hear always this hand-holding argument. Yes, I know that following a blood trail in the middle of a riot should be almost impossible. No, it should be 100% impossible. This is why I don't understand why is this an unavoidable mission? If the only way to find Cedric is to follow a blood trail on the streets where many people were massacred, then it should be an automatic failure. There should be a cutscene with narration from Geralt like this: "It will be impossible to follow one blood trail in the middle of a riot. I should look for another way."

Witcher 2 borrows so many things from the Batman games and implement all of them terribly. Following the assassin in Arkham City was hard, but it wasn't hard because the game didn't know which way I am going. Seriously, I found a blood trail when retracing my steps and Geralt hinted that I'm on the right track.
