Hey, look what happened to this thread while I was gone...

Just to clear things up, I'd never said CDP WERE misogynistic, just that they'd been called that over the nude cards from Witcher 1 and would probably be called that again over this.

In addition, I found this "photo shoot" to be gratuitous and giving Triss the wrong kind of attention.

The eloquent Legraf said:

Which is why one cannot and should not take the playboy session by itself, but as a supplement to the game, a game which features the character in more important ways
I have to respectfully disagree. All you've said would be true if Triss were posing or appearing in the game, where the broader context of the game is apparent and in which her character is indeed not marred by being sexy.
However, the Playboy spread is completely separate from the game. It's in a different medium and targets a different (if somewhat overlapping) audience. As such, it represents an interesting, powerful woman merely as a sexual object and so it's clearly (to me, at least) objectification, and bad form.

You're absolutely right, and I was writing based on an incorrect assumption. I didn't realize this was anything but a game extra, when in fact it really was published in Playboy. I'll stand by the rest of my tediously-long response, but this part was my mistake.
I'll take your "tediously long" over DrDavidDuke's "succinct" any day of the week. :)
I can see why you would be mad, but it's a video game. Come on. And besides, Triss is so much more than just some eye candy. She's an important character in the story.

It's not pornography. Otherwise centuries of history of art are filled with pornography as well. And they're not, of course, because a nude is just a nude, it's not pornography.
It's not sexism. Triss is gorgeous as well as smart, strong, badass mage. She's not Geralt's housewife.

Here's an example: http://www.naturistart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/giorgione-1.jpg

Witcher 1 romance cards are a different thing. Geralt has a lot of sex appeal, so a lot of women are attracted to him. But that doesn't mean that he has to collect a trophy for every night he spend with them.
I dislike romance cards as well, and I'm glad CDPR didn't introduce them in W2 and W3, but "triss nude session" is a completely different thing.
