Can anyone please post the md5 hash of the 20gb file? I always try to compare the checksum after downloading a game.

Just noticed the full download from GOG is the version 1.0.0.4 gah :(

Thanks anyway :)

EDIT: I need the one for the 1,0.0.4 of the file.

Okay finaly got it to work.

Deleted it.
Extracted it again.
Applied patch from gog and not the patch from github.
Copied libs that are to new on the system from the steam folder into game folder.

I still want the libs to be provided with the game or by gog in an extra patch/file.
Please do it.

@daseinhorn

If you have steam isntalled you can copy the libs from:

/home/username/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu

to the game folder of the witcher where all the readmes are inside.

I needed to copy: libcurl.so.4 librtmp.so.0 libgnutls.so.26

I think the main problem is there are so many distros and maybe that prevents GOG from releasing a universal build.

I've got a better solution. We could create our own patch for each distro so everyone can simply download, extract and play, it's all a matter of using the right libraries depending on the distro.

There are plenty of people here using all kinds of distros, making these patches doesn't take long and will clear out a lot of confusion. I'll make a new thread about my idea soon.

I second this. I have had to re download and attempt to extract the 1.0.0.4 tarball 3 separate times, just to find the download had corrupted.

Compressed tarballs include a (32 bit) CRC field for integrity checks. It isn't so effective as MD5 (or SHA*), but it's considerably faster. Have you tried to check it?

Anyhow, if the tarball was compressed using xz instead of gzip, it could also contain a CRC-64 (or SHA-256) field.

I didn't check this... I will have to look when I get home from work today. Thanks for the heads up.
Hmm I have error on Ubuntu 14.04 64bit

./launcher: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Any suggestions how to fix it?

You need the 32 bit version of the GTK library. Do you have multiarch enabled? If not, enable it first:

sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386

Then install the package:

sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-0:i386

VP release notes listed such packages as prerequsites, but GOG removed that readme from the package for some weird reason.

And just for the reference, it's only needed for the launcher / configurator GUI. The game itself can run fine without it.

Thanks, MD5 matched :-)

I feel much better now, knowing I didn't waste 20gb for nothing. My downloads tend to corrupt sometimes If I download too fast.

You can open a proposal for GOG to publish MD5 sums in the game cards :)

Thanks for quick reply. Now I have:

./witcher2: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL2-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

libSDL is installed, but I'm not sure about i386 version. ia-32libs is no more avaiable in 14.04 and it's causing a lot of troubles for me ;)
