byrc: My game plays crysis, crysis 2, and da2 above 50fps on highest settings

What is wrong with this game!!!

GrimDanfango: Firstly - turn off ubersampling!
Secondly - turn off ubersampling!

I'm surprised that you're only getting a 5fps difference between Ultra and High though, considering Ultra by default has ubersampling on, and that's rendering each frame multiple times.

But anyway, the point is... boohoo! The arbitrary labels CDP decided to attach to their sliders don't match up with your expectations. How's about just setting it to something that runs well, and enjoying the bleedin' game? (That's meant to be targeted at anyone who complains about hardware requirements, not a personal attack. I'm always amused how many people lose sight of actually just playing the game the moment they're given options to tweak)
I second your emotion My machine is twice what the OP posted and my settings drop 50% with Uber so whta's wrong with this game?? Your expectations is what's wrong with you. Grim is 100% on with his responce.
Your LGA775 rig is quite old compared to high-end rigs nowadays.

I imagine you disabled SSAO and Ubersampling?
You're right my lga775 is old school, but even people with i5/i7 are having problems playing ubersampling on

I looks as if no one actually play with it on unless you have 570 /590 sli

Ubersampling is a no-no... even the most powerful SLI rigs have been benchmarked (somewhere, can't recall the page) as barely managing 20 fps.
It is purely an additional, brute-force future-proofing setting... if you've got a computer from the future, then you can mix multiple render-passes together to attain super smooth antialiasing.

I kinda wish they'd signposted it a bit more, as there seems to be a lot of people who are expecting to be able to use it. It seems that CDP only added it as an extra novelty option to stress future GPUs.

GrimDanfango: This is a dedicated, well written engine. My point is, many people with an "above recommended spec" rig usually start ranting on about how badly coded something is the moment a game is released with "Ultra" settings that are beyond their hardware's capability.
Everyone did with Crysis... and it's an insult to the programmers. Just because they provide you the options to tweak, everyone seems to feel entitled to use them.
What if they'd just capped everything at "Medium", and called that "Ultra"? It'd still be an amazing looking game, everyone would be happy as larry, running the game at 60fps with everything maxed out... but why not open up options for those who can make use of them?
I don't know what you have been smoking but it must have been good. Stop being such an apologist, there are a lot of people with recommended and better rigs that can not run this game properlly with everything turned off on low.
