Specs:

q6600 2.4ghz oc'ed @ 2.8ghz
6gb ddr 2 ram
1tb HDD seagate 7200rpm
Geforce gtx 560ti
Geforce gtx 260 (secondary card)

Over 60fps on medium
Under 20fps on high
under 15fps on ultra

My game plays crysis, crysis 2, and da2 above 50fps on highest settings

What is wrong with this game!!!
Well, Crysis is old, and Crysis 2 and DA2 definitely didn't push the envelope when it comes to graphics, this game blows both of those out of the water. That's probably the issue.
Did you read the sticky? Perhaps try the beta drivers, rolling back to the previous driver, or uninstalling the 3D Vision driver (if you have it installed). Either way though, if you have it on ultra with ubersampling enabled, it's going to bring your rig to its knees.
Try to disable the UberSampling in options :)
hahahahahaha

Da2 was a poorly optimized piece of dung when running on dx11

If my machine can play it over 50fps on max settings this should run witcher 2 just fine.

BTW I'm using beta drivers 275.27 and yes i did not install the 3d stereo drivers
no ubersampling? damn i should try that I will post results

why's everyone using the crappy beta drivers? all i see are these nubs with high end cards using crap drivers then complaining about crap performance. ROLL BACK.
Try disabling either ubersampling or setting detail distance to medium. I am not sure which one of these did the trick, but my game sped up from 20 FPS to about 80. Everything else is pretty much maxed for me, cept vsync and ssao.

ATI 4890 1GB, 4 GB ram, 2.66ghz dual core, game runs on high no lag, beautiful.

Firstly - turn off ubersampling!
Secondly - turn off ubersampling!

That setting is basically not intended to be used. (not for a year or two anyway)

In addition to that... well, try to get the idea in your head that just because a developer provides you the options, doesn't mean that it's your god-given right to be able to turn them all up to Ultra just because you paid a fair sum for a gaming machine.
Developers sometimes like to future-proof their games...
Does the game look especially bad at Medium settings? I would say not. In which case, why not just enjoy it at Medium? It still looks better than almost any other game set to High.

I'm surprised that you're only getting a 5fps difference between Ultra and High though, considering Ultra by default has ubersampling on, and that's rendering each frame multiple times.

But anyway, the point is... boohoo! The arbitrary labels CDP decided to attach to their sliders don't match up with your expectations. How's about just setting it to something that runs well, and enjoying the bleedin' game? (That's meant to be targeted at anyone who complains about hardware requirements, not a personal attack. I'm always amused how many people lose sight of actually just playing the game the moment they're given options to tweak)

Either you didn't read the sticky thread and remove 3D vision or you have ubersampling on (or your machine has issues).

Maybe because the beta drivers are one recommended solution by nVidia to help fix performance issues with the game? Betas aren't always 'crap drivers'. Sure, you can roll back, and that does seem to solve issues as well, but there's nothing wrong with using the beta drivers either. If they don't seem to work, then roll back.

TURN OFF UBERSAMPLING DOOFUS

I'm not complaining about performance, asshat, since I'm not even playing the game yet. And ubersampling isn't the only issue, genius. The most common fix for issues is removing the 3D Vision driver. But thanks for playing.
I did remove 3d vision and using 275 beta driver. No i haven't tried without ubersampling at work now, so I will give that a try when i get back home.

@Grimdanfango
You do remember the first witcher right? Crazy ass load times, horrible sound glitches, stuttering, it was a mess. They fixed it. I bet you thought it ran like crud because they "future proofed it". So yeah I get your point about I can't assume my machine can run everything at max, but this isn't about that., its about optimization and performance. I bet your the same type of person who says the same thing when people had issues with dx11 on DA2. Guess what, that was Biowares fault. Not our equipment.

Okay, sure, there probably are optimisations that can be made, but this isn't the same deal as with the Aurora engine... that was a clunky engine, shoehorned into rendering a game it wasn't really designed to cope with.

This is a dedicated, well written engine. My point is, many people with an "above recommended spec" rig usually start ranting on about how badly coded something is the moment a game is released with "Ultra" settings that are beyond their hardware's capability.
Everyone did with Crysis... and it's an insult to the programmers. Just because they provide you the options to tweak, everyone seems to feel entitled to use them.
What if they'd just capped everything at "Medium", and called that "Ultra"? It'd still be an amazing looking game, everyone would be happy as larry, running the game at 60fps with everything maxed out... but why not open up options for those who can make use of them?

Sure, there are sometimes performance-sapping bugs that need weeding out, and they can quite often boost performance when they're solved. But in practice I find 90% of performance complaints come from people with capable-but-not-bleeding-edge computers, expecting to run on High or Ultra settings, and having a moan when they can't. It's certainly a far more common phenomenon than game-breaking slowdown due to bugs.
