Just beat the Kayram ... what a stupid, cheap boss.

I got ZERO satisfaction beating this cheap bastard. Every death felt cheap, I would time the stupid tenticals, but still get hit and die. Not to mention I have that stupid sorceress yelling, "YREDEN USE THE YREDEN!" 500 times. I heard you the first time bitch shut up!

What is missing here is what's added at the end of the fight, which is a quick action button ... Like when I'm about to get hit by the tentical, have the mouse 2 button flash on screen.

No skill in beating this thing, just pure luck.

I enjoy this game, but this has got to be by far the worst boss battle I've ever played. I mean, NINJA GAIDEN on NES was more fair that this!

Glad im done with it now so I can enjoy the game.

If I remember correctly, the sorceress stopped shouting that when I successfully used Yrden on a tentacle. If she's still shouting it, you might want to figure out what you're doing wrong with your Yrden, because using it really does make this fight a lot easier.

Actually, The Kayran is the boss that has the least to do with luck in the game. It's just a long, memorized sequence where if you make an error, you wil probably die. Luck doesnt come into it anywhere, as there isnt really any randomization. So it's all on you.

I certainly didnt enjoy getting owned the first few times by the Kayran either. But I did get satisfaction out of killing it, as it had earned my hate. And, its just cool to stand on top of the steaming carcass of something the size of a dinosaur you've just killed.

After some of the boss battle to come, you may find yourself looking back fondly on the Kayran, as it was just a simple memorized pattern. Some of the bosses coming up, you're actually going to have to *outfight*. :)
Try the Operator if you want a random boss fight. That one had me cursing and swearing at the screen... quite difficult even on 'easy' setting (I gave up trying on hard).

LOL, wow can I relate to that!!!! ^^^^^^

It took me a stupid amount of time to finally quit trying to out think this encounter and come here to ask about it.

I was soon told it was a simple patern fight, follow the patern you win, break the patern you lose

So I watched a vid online of the fight, did exactly same thing and defeated it first attempt after learning patern!

I almost stopped playing game over this boss and honestly felt no joy what so ever beating it because 1) I was forced to cheat (I do not like walkthroughs and what not and veiw them as cheating because its not me solving the issue) and 2) Really was no skill required, just knowing the patern.

I was terrified the other bosses would be like the Kayran but thank god that wasnt the case!

OP, your past the worst boss in game, the remaining you can figure out through tactics and knowledge.

I actually enjoyed this boss, it was awesome to see Geralt fighting something that huge (and I liked how in the end he says "He still got me a couple of times" like in reference to your trial and error deaths). In the end I personally believe it's a rather easy boss, there's not much to do apart from recognizing the pattern and adjusting your gameplay to it.
I beat that little creep while on lvl7 and in Normal difficulty (had made very few side quests at the time and my armor was laughable), of course I died 20+ times but it was worth it.

Quoted for truth. The worst thing about the Operator is that it's not a "cheap" fight, so losing has the added bitterness of it being your own damn fault.
Yeah, the Kayran fight is horrible. In fact, the difficulty of the game is all over the place. Maybe it will improve when the game gets patched.
It takes me four minutes to kill Kayran on normal.

Fight goes -> Quen, dodge tentacle, plant special Kayran trap, destroy tentacle, stay on its side, quen sign, yrden on remaining tentacle, fast fast fast strong etc. , stay on side, quen, run and dodge to other side, yrden, fast fast strong etc. , do QTE mini-game, run to cover by stone, quen, run up the fallen bridge to left, end the fight Geralt style.
"plant special Kayran trap"

Where did you get the trap? I got a part of the trap from some chest in loredo's mansions but I never got around to building actual trap. Do you need a schematic for it? If yes, where do you get it?

I beat krayan on normal, without the trap, using yrden for trapping tentacles and quen for protection from tentacles.

Do you remember the drunk elf who goes by Cedric? He has the diagram for the Kayran trap and the diagrams for all the other traps in chap 1.
D'oh, totally missed it, I was to lazy to go up these ladders :D
So how does this trap impact the fight?

It destroys one tentacle completely when you lure a tentacle on it successfully. No need for sword combos.
