Firstly ... Flotsam, wow. I am completely sucked into TW2 and have spent the last few hours wandering around Flotsam and getting involved into ever-expanding quests and storylines.

Anyway, whilst wandering near the craftsman by the wall inside Flotsam, I encountered two 'scientists' who asked if I'd be willing to try out a drug for them to see if there are any long-term effects. I accepted, but then they simply wandered off into the bookstore. They are still in there and I can't interact with them, and there's no entry in my journal about my encounter with them and agreeing to take part in their drug trial.

Is this normal? Or is this a bug where something should have been entered into my journal?

Many thanks

Bump.
Surely someone has encountered these two shady characters?
If I remember correctly, you need to check your inventory - they gave you a mutagen that you can use if you want to (I didn't use it myself as I'm presuming I'll be able to pick up much better mutagens later on, and I've heard that once you attach a mutagen it's permanent and can't be changed.
Yea, I think their only purpose was to introduce you to mutagens, but since mutagens can't be replaced, I wouldn't bother using anything other than a greater. Also, if you are planning on going the Alchemy route, don't bother using mutagens until you are able to double their effect.
What did they even give you?
If this is your first of many playtroughs with the game, I don' t see why you should refrain from using the mutagens. Pick one you like the upgrades and use it.

Since it's fairly random on what mutagens you get from a mob, and you can get Greaters even in Act 1, and since they can't be replaced, you're really best off only using Greater mutagens. *shrug*

One nice effect of this strange design decision (one would think the intention was you could at least upgrade a mutagen from lesser to normal to greater), is that mutagens drop a lot and can turn into a serious source of income, since you should be selling 99% of them. :p

If it's your first of your only playthrough, though, why wouldn't you wait for some better gear? (It's rare for me to replay a game)
Guys use your mutagens i just finished the game without to notice and i never used a mutagen so don't worry you wont mess anything up :)

This game has 16 endings and at least one main area that can only be accessed in a different playthrough with a different choice, or so I've heard. You're sure you ain't replaying it? I have so many replays with my most treasured games. TW2 will give me a long long gaming time!

Having finished two "major" playthroughs, with two small variations between them, I can confidently say that while technically there are 16 endings, there are only 4 truly different ones, and two of those can be had with very little time spent re-playing near the end with a saved game. I suspect only the truly OCD will bother with the other 12 incredibly minor differences in ending.

Not that I'm complaining. The biggest choice you make essentially has you play a completely different act, depending on choice, which makes it one of the few real choices in any video game where these choices tend to be far more superficial and meaningless.

In fact, I'd say you haven't really finished the game until you've played both sides, as the perspectives gained are so good. Kudos to CPR for not being like nearly every other game (and even the W1), in which irregardless of your choice you still play the same quests/zones/etc.
