I'd might be able to find more info, but the official forums are STILL down...

Anyone?
Don't think there is one, but this thread on another forum seems to suggest partial translation of some of the stories seem to exist. (No clue where they can be found though)

Quote from the poster "Yeah.. I read the first 2 short stories from Sword of Destiny in English (fan translations) and wondered for a while who the hell was that Jaskier dude until Geralt mentioned his lute or something and then it hit me.. :P"
I found it. Go to this link: "http://docs8.chomikuj.pl/310983009,0,1,The-Sword-of-Destiny---Andrzej-Sapkowski---A-Shard-of-Ice--English.docx";.

At the bottom of the page there are links for the full .docx files for the 2 first stories in the collection entitled: i) Limits of the Possible (or more accurately "The Limits of Reason") and ii) A Shard of Ice. Follow the links and scroll down to a window that says "Pliki w folderze Dokumenty" and click the .docx files for download.

IMPORTANT: I couldn't get them to work unless I changed them to rich text format. If you don't know how to do this just change the end of the name to ".rtf" instead of ".docx".

Hope this helps! If it does please sign the petition to have The Sword of Destiny released.

well, I read the Sword... in italian and I must say it's quite important to understand fully what's going on in the Blood Of Elves. It's a real shame it hasn't been translated in english. Hell, it even helps understand better The Last Wish. In fact I'm reading The Last Wish for a second time, now that I finished The Sword Of Destiny, sry, La Spada Del Destino. ;)
Guys, I made this summary, from the ones found on The Witcher Wiki, for all who share my angst that this book is not translated to english.
I don't know if the summaries found on that chomikuj.pl page are of good quality, so I leave this.
I hope it is of some use.
Cheers.

I rather read books in English. But for the Witcher books I am really, really happy that I know German.

I can't thank you enough! I am losing my mind trying to find a way to read the other stories in the book. This is very appreciated.

Me too.

Just to take this thread to the next level of OTT, but is anyone up for doing unofficial fan translations of the rest of the book?
The 2 English translations from chomikuj.pl were very good. Better, IMO, than the translation of The Last Wish, though it could be that Sapkowski is improving as a writer.

Hey guys I have a little bit of good news. I've been trying to use Google translate to get a rough translation of the rest of the stories from The Sword of Destiny for a while now to no avail (when I say the rest of, I mean the 3rd, 4th. 5th and 6th stories as there is already a high quality translation of the 1st and 2nd). Finally, after trying 4 languages (not to mention the serious trouble I had just getting Google translate or any other translator to work on any of the raw versions of pre-existing translations out there for a plethora of reasons I will not go into here) I tried a Spanish version and struck gold; er...well maybe bronze. But it is readable for the most part!! There are problems, so this is not for the picky but it is readable.

I had to use this website for the translation: http://www.wattpad.com/156646-geralt-de-rivia-ii-la-espada-del-destino?p=1. The problems is, this website does not allow one to copy so I had to take screenshots, copy them into a paint program, crop and save. This leads to some small annoyances. For instance, the spacing is all messed up on this website, so sometimes a page will be split into 3 images instead of 2 (the 3rd being only a sentence or 2 in most cases). These will be labelled as pg31-2 or something. Other problems are as follows: 1. The Spanish translation didn't always work out, some city/province names do not translate well (but that even occurred in the published version of The Last Wish, so it is pretty much unavoidable), 2. Some rare words just did not translate, however, it doesn't happen much and you can easily look them up if you need to, 3. THIS IS A ROUGH TRANSLATION. The sentences are structured in weird ways at best and in rare instances things just don't make sense. But please don't let these things get to you too much. I have read a lot of it and so far I am very pleased if not mildly annoyed by the problems presented above.

So then, if you are like me, you will just be happy to have any tool to get a better look at the long lost 2nd book. I work 40 hrs a week and am a full time student so I do not have time to make this thing better. Sorry. If you are not like me, i.e. you are a troglodyte or australipithicene afarensis homunculus mongoloid, DO NOT READ THIS! For all sorts of reasons but the greatest being that you are a puff of aerosolised marmot shart.

DO NOT JUDGE THIS TRANSLATION ON THE 1ST PAGE! IT IS PROBABLY THE WORST PAGE IN THE COLLECTION!

I have attached a sample page (it is the 1st page of the 4th story in the book). I have the rest in zip file format which I would gladly e-mail to all of you who want it (this forum won't allow files bigger than 500kb). If you don't mind you can also use google translate on the webpage listed above but my format looks a lot better and is less tedious. I figure the work I put into this will be more worth it if I spread it around a little.

If you have any better ideas as to how I should make this available, please let me know by posting another message here or pm'ing me. However, if you do e-mail me, be prepared for a late or non-existent response. I am bad about checking in. If you just want to complain, find your catharsis elsewhere. Maybe your mother still cares enough to put up with you.

I would suggest you just ask interested people to PM you, rather than leaving a clear-text email for the spambots to have their way with...

esiaschdeprap:
Thanks for the link. Google translation (via Google Chrome) worked pretty well on the website.
