Okay, so they said the Troll Trouble DLC was included within the patch, so I began my replay (because I missed it the first time due to the looping download thingy). Now when I get to Flotsam, the note on the board tells me to go register online to get the Troll quest, which is impossible, there's no place to register online.

Is there a way around this, so I can finally try the DLC, or am I just doomed?

Have exactly the same problem, starting a second game, got the 1.2 patch, and the noticeboard says to register at a non existent forum to put in an non existent game code! The Troll Quest was there in my first play through!

That's funny. It is included. My first guess would be that you don't in fact have version 1.2. Are you guys certain everything patched ok? Do you have the other DLC items? Is the troll.dzip in your game folder?

I have all the other DLC. and of course, as you know, the launcher automatically updates when there is a new patch, so my game updated to 1.2 in the middle of my first playthrough! As I stated, in my first playthrough the Troll quest was there!

As I also said, I reinstalled 1.2 and it didn't solve the problem and I deleted the downloads folder and registry entry for downloads before I re-installed it. No difference. In the CrookedPC folder I had all my other DLC and in my game I had the blue stripes armour on, etc.

I finally got the Troll DLC to work by downloading from a torrent, Went back to the noticeboard and their was CD Projekt's notice saying to go to a website and enter a code, and next to it on the noticeboard was the torrented version with the Troll Quest ready to go!

So sad that Witcher 2 has so many technical difficulties that surround a great game. And that I needed to download a torrent version of the DLC to get it to work!

There has never been a single other game I have ever played in 25 years of gaming, where the game has lost something between a first playthrough and second playthrough!

Go to the CookedPC folder and check if you have the file troll.dzip.

If you don't, donwload mine from here and put it in the CookedPC folder

+rep for making your file available! I overwrote the torrented file for your file and got the quest on the noticeboard again (even though I had chosen the quest with the other Troll file), I took it and it works!

Doesn't answer why I had the Troll quest in my first playthrough but not my second! and why a re-install of 1.2 didn't solve it, but I have it working now - so thanks for going the extra mile! :)
If anyone else is having problems. I would recommend to skip the autopatch, and manually download and install Patch 1.1, then Patch 1.2.
Sounds like Patch 1.1 isnt getting installed correctly, cause I think the troll dlc is in patch 1.1

You're welcome John ;)

The dlc is included in both 1.1 and 1.2 and i guess the overwrite sometimes doesn't go all that well. mippoh's advice above about installing the patches manually is good advice should you need to re-install and re-patch.

Hopefully the next patch will correct the dlc and patching issues some folks are still experiencing.

Don't forget though, that I only RE-Installed the 1.2 patch AFTER I couldn't get the Troll DLC to work. So on just re-starting a new game without doing a thing between finishing the previous playthough and starting the new one, the Troll DLC seemed to have disappeared!

You re-installed 1.2 after the dlc didn't work, ok, but when did you installl it ? At a point during the first playthrough where you had already done the troll quest perhaps ?

Installed it when everyone else did, when the game auto updated when the 1.1 patch came out. At that point I had not got to Vergen, so had not even looked at that noticeboard! When I finally got there the Troll quest was on the noticeboard and I completed it. I then continued to play the game, with at some point Witcher 2 auto updating to the 1.2 patch. I then completed the game, waited a couple of days and re-started the game from scratch. On reaching the noticeboard in Vergen I notice the Troll quest was not available as above.

Now the 1.2 update may have buggered the quest up, but if I had already completed that quest before the game updated I would not have known until I started a new game, so that's my best bet for when something happened, when the game first updated to 1.2

Do you mean Flotsam? The quests with trolls in Vergen are something else...

That would be my bet as well. I didn't have any issues with it but i did deleted all the DLC .dzip files in the game folder before applying 1.2. Folks were also reporting a 'mismatch error' or 'wrong version' error when installing the 1.2 with DLC .dzip's in the game folder, so it seems clear that the overwrite of the old(er) ,dzip's files sometimes doesn't go all that well.
The autopatch doesn't work as far as I can tell. It told me 'game is up to date" every time I ran it, only to find out I didn't have a single thing patched.

Depending on where you bought the game you may have to get a different patch 1.1, if it was steam or gog they have the file for you to download, if it was retail you get it from the Witcher site. Then 1.2 is from the Witcher site no matter where you got the game.

After I realized the autopatcher was lieing to me I did the 2 patches manually and everything worked fine.
just patch manually. get the patches and a full reinstall should solve all your problems.
