I know there are so many people who have stutter issue and I wanted to share what I was able to do to remove it.

Prior to/after patch 1.1 and 11.5b hotfix I was experiencing stutter.

Here is what I did (TW2 1.1):

1. Reverted back to 11.5a hotfix (I have a single GPU so I assumed 11.5b wouldnt do much for me)
2. Used Defraggler to defragment ALL witcher 2 files
3. Replaced Fraps with Dxtory (a different FPS measuring tool)

I suspect that Fraps was the main culprit. When I switched between Dxtory and Fraps, Fraps always had the microstutter. That being said my loading times have improved since I defragmented the witcher 2 folder.

My system specs:
i5 760 oc to 3.8
4gig ddr3 1600 gskill ram
1 TB 7200 rpm HD
Sapphire 4830 512mb video card (I know I've been contemplating upgrading)

I get around 30-40 FPS in folstam on 1920x1080 with all settings set to low specs. I want to run a lower res with improved graphic options but the black bars annoy me.

Let me know if this also works for you guys!!!!

Edit: Attached pics of CCC overclock and Witcher 2 config in case anyone wanted to see.

Your fix was using Dxtory, when running this it lowers the overall performance of the game without the limiter enabled.

I posted this in the stutter thread earlier.

A solution which is common with several games that experience micro-stuttering.

The fix is to use a Frame Rate Limiter.

If any of these work for you please report back.

DX10/11

ToMMTi-Systems SSAA-Tool v1.0
http://www.tommti-systems.de/temp/SSAA_Tool.rar
- This one is for advanced users, make sure to throughly look at the ReadMe.txt
- I recommend using this, setting a limit actually makes the fps fluxuate -15 fps from your upper limit, I set it to 70.

Dxtory
http://dxtory.com/v2-download-en.html
- There is a frame rate limiter option under advanced options, although from my experience the program would slow down performance without it even enabled.
- I didn't like this program as much as it considerably lowers performance and does not work while using MSI Afterburner.

ATI Tray Tools
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=733
- Supposedly with the Refresh Lock feature this should reduce stuttering and input lag when Vsync is enable if set to lower than 60 fps.
- Although I had trouble getting this app to even work.
- Let me know if anyone fixes the micro-stuttering with this app.

game runs worser with dxtory for me running with CF 5850, fps displayed are low 40s at the begining of the game outside the tent. As soon as a i close dxtory the game runs as it should and it's completely smooth (60fps that would show fraps if opened)
@cH053n

All I did was install the program, I didnt enable any sort of FPS limit. I dont see much of a difference in terms of performance. When I load a specific save with both Fraps and Dxtory I am getting the same exact FPS (29).

But it is worth nothing that when I use Dxtory the reporting FPS during intro screens and title screen are about 10FPS lower. Although in-game the reporting is the same as Fraps except Fraps updates the FPS on screen much quicker than Dxtory.

@ neonism

I'm not sure if this makes a difference but I downloaded the Stable version of Dxtory. Try this one and see if it fixes the problem.

I don't understand how this could be a fix, unless everyone who is suffering this stutter is also running FRAPS in the background... My guess is that probably 5% of those who suffer it are doing so.
Yea I totally agree with you. I was dumfounded when I saw the difference. I have tested both ways multiple times and Fraps definitely has stutter compared to Dxtory.

I believe Ch053n is correct when he was talking about lower performance. When using Dxtory my frame rate is a few FPS lower as I run through Folstam forest using Dxtory. For me the difference is about 2-3 FPS, but when using more powerful GPU's I imagine the FPS difference is more noticeable.
I'm not using Fraps, using MSI Afterburner.

Yes, I tried it with it on and off. The stutter happens regardless.

But its gone now when using the SSAA tool
@ cho053n

Just curious did using one of those methods you posted eliminate the stutter?

lol nm, you beat me to the punch.

I will try using SSAA tool and see if that eliminates my stutter while keeping my FPS at "Fraps level"

But it can't be a solution to use such a tool. In my case there was no stuttering before the patch and with it I have choppy movement. It must have broke something.
Agreed, it still needs to be fixed by ATI/CDPR, I just wanted to post and see if this helped anyone stutter as it makes the game unplayable IMO.
Also, there are two settings in Dxtory that might help, in my case the first increase the FPS.

1. Force CPU Processing
2. Enable Multi-GPU fix code (Could possibly help others with xfire or sli configs)
I know this thread is a bit old, but it's still a top hit on google when researching this problem. I had the same issue with game version 2.1. I downloaded Dxtory, enabled a 30 FPS frame limit, and all the stutter is gone. Previously I had tried lowering and changing settings - nothing had worked.

My system:
2500k
8gb RAM
1x 6950 2gb

Now this amazing game runs silky smooth with everything at max except for Ubersampling.

unpack ---> copy to your witcher 2 folder with witcher2.exe (it is \witcher2\bin folder)

swith off all dxtory limiters etc. just witcher on vanilla settings

See if that works ! (btw it's not my work !)
good evening, hello

I am the author of FIX, this one gum and keeps the stuttering framerate to 60 FPS max if your machine allows it naturally.

I just check the download link above, the archive contains many problem without my FIX! as said above you just have to copy both files in the ZIP the BIN folder of the game, one that contains the file witcher2.exe

enjoy !
