I'm going to go ahead and use this thread since it was necro'd by psychocat.

So, I'm having the all too common stuttering problem. The game runs incredibly smooth frame rate wise, but has that jittering or stuttering and it makes it difficult to play. This happens regardless of graphical settings, and my PC is plenty fast enough to play it at medium to high settings. And like I said, the actually frame rate is very smooth, but something is causing stuttering that I don't get in any other games.

I tried the stuttering fix, and it worked but didn't at the same time. The stuttering went away, but it actually made the game look worse graphically and now it just runs flat out choppy. No stuttering, but just plain choppy and looks terrible. So I removed those two files and the game looks better and runs smoother again, but the stuttering is there again.

Anyone have any other ideas? ATI/AMD video card, not Nvidia.
Make sure your pc meets Recommended system requirements NOT minimum system requirements for games or even better specs is best of course.

Remember you cant max out the eye candy in a game if your computer just does not have the grunt for it you will have to set it at what your computer can handle because of the system components you have in your computer or else you will have problems because of this.

Some FREE Things to do for gaming are to update all of these:
Graphic card drivers for your gpu,
Direct X from microsoft,
Motherboard drivers,
Sound card drivers,
Windows is all up to date as well.
Do a defrag on your harddrives.
Do a disk clean up on your harddrives.
Have a clean desktop, minimum amount of icons, items in the toolbar, and a plain desktop to save memory/ram for gaming.
Dont muti task while gaming as it takes away cpu,ram etc., grunt from your game.

And of course see if there are any updates/patches for the game helps as well!!!
Hope this helps!!!

psychocat: good evening, hello

I am the author of FIX, this one gum and keeps the stuttering framerate to 60 FPS max if your machine allows it naturally.

I just check the download link above, the archive contains many problem without my FIX! as said above you just have to copy both files in the ZIP the BIN folder of the game, one that contains the file witcher2.exe

enjoy !

Yes! This works! Finally, it was driving me crazy...

Some things I discovered that might help other people:
1. Rename the text file that comes with the dll to "antilag.cfg", then you can edit the framerate limit (I set mine to 30, the game does not load with 25).
2. The log for antilag is in in the root of your home folder.
3. This does not work with ATI Tray Tools. The game does not start and crashes upon startup.
4. Following 3. since I wanted a fps couter: MSI Afterburner works but you must enable the "Enable compatibility with modified Direct 3D runtime libraries" option for the OSD server.

Besides this the game runs much faster now and I was able to enable back some graphics options.
I turned off Ubersampling and disabled Anti aliasing in the Settings graphics advanced section of the game(from the game launcher).
I then used Nvidia Inspector, selected The Witcher 2 profile set Anti aliasing to 4(override game settings)and it looks sweet now.

Still slight jags but a much cleaner picture.

I wish Geralt kept his white hair lol.

Hello guys. i also had a probem with stuttering in the game. The program dxtory works. i run it and i limited the fps at 30 in the witcher 2 profile inside the program and the problem was gone. i couldn't believe it. Now the game runs fine without stuttering or frame skipping.

Stuttering Fix:
Different texture memory allotments, lower graphics settings and enabling/disabling vsync+triple buffering did not fix stutter on PC. Setup was: i7-2670QM 2.2GHz 8GB RAM, GTX 560M 2GB VRAM with game version 2.00.004, no background programs, latest drivers, proper defrag, etc. So, I dropped the maximum pre-rendered frames in the nvidia control panel to 1, and the stuttering is surprisingly gone. Hope this is helpful.
