anyone else agree? I want cdp to raise the difficulty level with patch 1.3. especially for hard and insane. boss fights are totally fine. I just want an overall harder game when I explored the map questing. if they could some how make the mobs in the game harder would be great. they attack more often, does more dmg, or block or dodge more. it would totally revitalizes the game for me.

edit: to clarify, I want hard and insane to be more difficult, while leaving easy and normal unchanged, or maybe even made easier.

If you beat the game on insane, naked, with a stick, it should be made harder.

This could be done in or out of the game.

Good point! No armor, rusty sword or shovel, no potions, oils or bombs. Not leveling up is also an option. :)
...or you could make the game harder by simply not patching it...? At some point they'll have to fix the responsiveness issue. Surely it's frustrating to be playing a Geralt who becomes randomly and inexplicably incapacitated? Or a Geralt seemingly required to carry a whole lot of stuff that he simply isn't strong enough to carry, therefore becoming regularly encumbered?

But seriously... you could easily make the game harder by setting restrictions for yourself. This is what indie crpg enthusiasts do... we make up challenges for ourselves. In my opinion, this is more fun than waiting for the dev's to force it on you . . . not to mention less selfish.

...not to sound rude, or jerky, or anything. My only point is: the dev's did a truly amazing job. The artwork and the writing is some of the best I've seen in a crpg. So if you want the game to offer you more challenge: be creative. Try not using potions, not using bombs, not using oils, not using signs, using only the simplest swords you can find, using a steel sword on monsters, fighting your way through the game with a blackjack... whatever. Be creative.

that isn't good for 1 very good reason. it will take out 1 very important aspect of the game, the LOOT! same as not leveling up. when you kill something for drops or craft something you look forward to it cause it does something new, like more dmg or more bleed or stunt or freeze. same with armor types. when you level up, you look forward to the new abilities. the game would not be fun anymore.

how can not patching be suggested? who doesn't want bug fixes?

I agree to some point, even after 1 playthrough one gets pretty familiar with combat and good at it so bigger challenge would be welcome. So, as they made the prologue easier, they should make Hard and Insane difficulties more difficult in return, so people looking for challenge get something too.
It's hard to satisfy all the community , when the game came out , many uninstalled it or cursed CD projekt on forums out of frustration because it was too hard for them , now i see some people want it to be harder ...

I think nobody has the same level of patience or perseverance , a too hard game for some people means it is no longer a game that is supposed to be fun and "entertain" but a torture that is frustrating and over the top .

For others a too easy game means it's no longer a fun game with challenge and good adrenalin .. and the lack of challenge makes the game seems even shorter than it is

CD projekt tried their best to balance it somehow , more on the "hard side" IMHO , since if you look at the review of the TW2 (before patch 1.2 was released ) , most criticized its difficulty and unforgiveness at the beggining for players new to the world of the Witcher

Personally , i find the current difficulty good because i didn't manage to beat insane yet , but i understand some of us who may not work or have children , or who may have a lot of free time or patience or are simply much more skilled than the average player at video games , who want a harder game .
Well, there's someone - can't recall his handle offhand - on these forums who's doing an Insane run with a pickaxe (actually, he may have finished by now, but he posted his battle with the Operator a couple days ago), and I know RageGT made a comment about doing an insane run with a broom (not sure if he was serious, but I can believe he'd try it). So it's certainly possible to give yourself a challenge without having to get it in a patch.

That being said, I see no issue with having a harder difficulty patched in, as long as it doesn't take dev time away from squashing bugs and fixing issues.

I am asking for a harder game on hard and insane mode. I am not asking them to change anything in easy or normal. hell, cdp can make those 2 modes easier if they want. give health regen during combat for easy mode :P that will help alot of players who find it hard to finish this great game.

I want a harder game on hard and insane, that is all. I don't want to make the game harder for those who are already struggling to beat the game. health regen for those playing easy mode would help them out alot.

... almost makes me want to make a mod people wouldn't be able to go past the prologue...
Not really harder, just needs to be balanced. They nerfed the Prologu becuase even on Normal for most players it was a challenge. The issue is that as your character developes, you get better weapons, the enemies diffuclty does not scale with the player. As you approach Chapter 2 and on-ward, it is pretty easy cause of the scalling is not present.

So yeah, it needs to be harder, but it needs to be scaled not just make a difficulty in-between hard and insane.

When they nerfed the proluge, the removed the number of enemies in some of the situations as well as decreased the hit points of the enemies. I think they should just scale enemies hp levels depending on the user and the skills the player has or weopons the player has.
I disagree. They don't need to make the game harder. They need to make the game's difficulty more consistent and scale better.

As it stands right now, the game starts out way too hard, but ends up way too easy.

That is what I said above. The game needs some balance tweeking. Prior to 1.2, Prologue was too hard on Normal so it was nerfed. But as you progress in the game, the enemies don't scale with the player so it becomes a cake walk as you get farther into the game.
