Eurogamer.net - 9/10
"Combat might have its low and high points, but the talking and exploring is one long high point filled with upward spikes into brilliance. Without wanting to give away a single moment, I found myself routinely cheering at my monitor, laughing more times than that, and had even more occasions where I stared hopelessly at my conversation options, too captivated by the situation to make a choice."

"Yet none of this really matters, because of what The Witcher 2 manages to do overall. It creates a sinister, cogent, violent, colourful world that is routinely affected by your actions within it. The game comes to life as it is merged with your decisions and articulates a story that is at once overwhelming and engrossing. I’ve enjoyed this collision of combat and story more than I have with any RPG since Vampire Bloodlines. It dissolves my lack of interest in fantasy games with its intensity."

Mad Overdose:
"In short: Witcher 2 is a game true RPG lovers should not pass up. Even if you hated the first game like me, it is worth a look as it takes everything about a good RPG, beats it over the head, and shows the world how it is done. Despite very minimal short comings, the quality and love poured into this rich experience is second to none. With challenging combat, expansive storyline that you actually give a damn about, and a hot red head you can have your way with, it’d be a shame to pass up on this title."

Attack of the Fanboy: Overall Loved
"The cinematic cutscenes are mostly first rate (see Hated), and are among the best I have ever seen. The level of detail is far and above what you normally see, and I was impressed with some exception. The gameplay graphics themselves were of little disappointment too, and I found myself pleasantly surprised at the performance of the game’s RED Engine. No major hiccups, smooth playing, nothing at all to complain about there."

"Overall, The Witcher 2 is one of the best games of this year, if not this generation. It has a deep and engaging story. It offers a huge variety of choices, and it is visually stunning. If there is something to complaining about, it's that some (mostly not-so-important) characters have lacking voice actors, and that the stealth missions, that luckily are few and far apart, are quite annoying."

Yeah most news sites didn't include full gripe only " ending ". In CDA review in fact there is only one gripe, sneaking

OP.

Pelit is the biggest, most popular and most respected Finnish game magazine.

You don't need the question mark there ;)

Btw, the game has exceeded 100k preorders

http://www.vg247.com/2011/05/12/witcher-2-pre-orders-hit-111842-polish-edition-pre-orders-maxed/

And the number is getting bigger and bigger by the minute. It's the best selling game after Portal 2 at Steam and THE best selling game @ D2D.

Just noticed that both TW1 and TW2 are on the top of gog.com`s "best sellers" charts now.

Mountainram is pleased.

Yup.

And I've looked some numbers and games that have 200-300k preorders before the release date, usually end up selling multiple million copies. And you have to remember that PC game sales aren't as front loaded as console game sales.

So it all looks very good right now. At this point it's pretty safe to say it's gonna sell noticeable more than its predecessor.

Unless its utterly garbage and we`re all led behind the curtain with good marketing (looking at you, american gaming industry)
As of " 200-300k preorders " numbers people should know that those are in 90% for games that are multiplat.

Witcher 2 is PC exclusive so 100k preorders are superb score for a RPG.

I ask again as i asked in OT when does review embargo will lift up? I can't find any clue about embargo. It's 3rd day after word first CDA review and it should be in day max two lifted up...

True. As your link says:

"It's very good, better than expected result. The world's biggest hits split up in advance in the number of 200-300 thousand. copies and then only in the titles of which appear immediately on the three platforms, and "The Witcher 2" for now spend only for the PC. "

It's great that the sales are exceeding CDPR's expectations. :)

PELIT is an old and big(well in Finland) gaming magazine.
reviews seems to be taking their time getting out.
TW2 is now the 5th best rated game on gog.com

http://www.gog.com/en/catalogue#all_genres/order/rate/

Not bad for an unreleased game! ;-)
