Yeah, the "optimization for my 386SX needed"-threads always make me laugh. But there are people with decent rigs having horrible fps and those should receive as much help as possible. Problem is the official forums (where there would be a technical support section) are stlll offline.

As for the difficulty problems: People got soft over the past years. Give them time to adapt to the witcher's demanding gameplay.

bluewave256: "HEIL HITLER. You're opinion is different PLEASE DON'T COME ONTO THE FORUMS!!!!11 You'll be assimilated." quote from the Aussie

My opinion instead is different from yours and I think that this game is a console game not a PC exclusive.

The Witcher 1 is better.
^^ Yeah but at least this would pose as an interesting discussion to have. Pity there's not a separate section of the forum to discuss gameplay etc. so we can avoid being spammed by "I can't register/I can't press X to die" posts.

I remember when TW1 came out and for the first week people were complaining that the game was consolized and that the levelling up was for "noobs" that wanted to "Hack n' Slash" their way through the game and that the timing attack system was too much like Diablo 2/Titan Quest.

Yet once all those idiots left, you were left with the people that actually knew that they were playing one of the only benchmark worthy RPGs to be seen in the last few years unless you go back to Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

From what I've read, downloading the beta drivers/uninstalling 3D Vision had fixed FPS issues for most people with nVidia cards. Still, there are countless threads where people have to be told again to do this (after ignoring the sticky). As far as ATI cards, they're working on fixes, we have to be patient.

I tried CD Projekt's Contact Us link (which most people ignore as they generally don't receive an actual response) and received an actual reply with some suggestions within a few hours. After trying those (which didn't really help, unfortunately) I sent a DxDiag log to help them figure out what exactly is wrong.

If the customers were wrong, dont you think that the developers, ati, and nvidia employees would laugh at us? but instead, they have already posted that the patches, and hot fixes are on its way.
so stfu.

cbarbagallo: Did you post your pc configuration? Usually, we can find something to help. No guarantees, b0tr most performance issue have a work around, not a solution but at least you can play until proper drivers are released.
I am playing video games for over 18 years. Thanks, but I dont need any advice configuring the game settings.

If they didn't say that do you think their shareholders would be happy?

Of course not.

So of course they will say that.

And of course they will release patches to do what they can to help. Sure there are serious issues for some users, but don't expect AMAZING performance increases. The only real ones that will be solved will likely be eye-finity, crossfire, SLI and any corruptions. Then maybe expect 10% increases in FPS across the board from both teams. But all of this takes time to track down and be QA/QC'd so it's not going to happen overnight and you're better off disabling SLI/crossfire/eyefinity and solving most of the issues your end as much as you can to make sure you don't have conflicts that are the primary cause in the first place before going and blaming the developers for not taking into account the 4% of PCs that have crossfire/SLI.

So are you saying that the recommended settings is a lie?
My old pc has recommended settings. and It plays the game on low settings 15~ fps
My new computer runs the game on med settings with playable fps but it drops in large towns\areas every 10 seconds.

My PC is on the recommended specs exactly. And the game runs SILKY SMOOTH ~35-40 fps at 1080p with all settings on high and SSAO and Ubersampling off.

Specs:
q9450
4gb ram
Vista 64-bit
260gtx

I just looked at steam recommended specs. This is practically what it says.

I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry.

First of all, yes, there are many people who complain for nothing.

However, calling them noobs is kinda fascinating as YOU (yes, I mean YOU, dear thread opener), don't either know that there are tons of different hardware specs or you simply refuse to take that into account.

So basically saying "the game runs fine" is just as useless as saying "the game does not run fine for me".

So the people who are having (theoretically) good enough PCs might indeed face driver issues, we can't surely know without further information.

Only a fool bases an argument only on his own experience.

If you actually read the thread you would realise that is not what I said at all. Thanks for reading one part of one of my posts and jumping on it.

"The game is amazing, I have zero issues, CD Projeckt have delivered everything and more that I wanted while making the game different enough from the first one that I'm still intrigued and challenged in a fun and engaging way. Excellent, inspiring, atmospheric. Please DO NOT listen to your customers complaints when you go to scope up what you'll do for the Witcher 3 and PLEASE continue to stick to your own guns as they are delivering in spades. "

Well, what else could you mean with ""I" have zero issues" and "Please DO NOT listen to your customers complaints"?

It basically shows that you think that your point of view is the only way to go.

So, yes, I will jump on that because IT IS part of your post and you said it.

Scroll down the page a bit. But yes, I am being rather binary in my opinions than what I actually mean at times and that's probably leading to people interpretting what I'm typing to include things that I didn't mean to include. What I was rather referring to in the quoted section was the prevalence of posts on here asking for the combat to be easier, the game to work like the first 1, the blocking to be infinite etc.
in an attempt to add some balance to this thread I am going to add my two cents for what it's worth:

regarding the repeated topics/ people jumping onto the forums etc:

Yes better site/forum management would be useful (and yes forums on the actual witcher site would perhaps be more appropriate ).

yes my advice would be 'read the manual/ journal tutorials' and 'just stick with it, the combat gets easier'. And I DO quite like that the game dosn't hand-hold, it works for me but it would be obtuse not to recognise that this approach is going to alienate/confuse some people and yes there will always be some who rush straight to the internet/forums for their answer and who will, upon seeing no topic management or an easy way to search the ever increasing pages of topics, repeat post. so errors by all parties i would suggest.

regarding the contentions over minimum requirements:

I believe what yogi is trying to do is counter blanket claims that 'the minimum requirements are false' which is clearly misleading, by making another blanket claim 'the minimum requirements are true' which is also currently misleading due to various optimisation/ driver issues which have been widely discussed and affect various different set ups. This is an absolutely stunning game in many respects but is not perfect and some of those imperfections, which will surely be fixed in time, are causing the usual and expecting internet rage. my advice; remember world, keep some perspective.
