make sure you use this directory and not the steamapps one.

C:\Users\{username}\Documents\Witcher 2\Config

and to invert Y just make Y negative. make sure you adjust your sensitivity in game first otherwise as soon as you change it it will change back.

MouseSensitivityX=0.284615
MouseSensitivityY=-0.177885

Cheers

Kefaz: If you want to invert either the Y or the X axis for your gamepad, these are the lines you need to change in your user.ini file:

IK_Pad_RightAxisX=(GameKey="GI_AxisRightX",Value=1)
IK_Pad_RightAxisY=(GameKey="GI_AxisRightY",Value=1)

Change the values to -1 if you want the axis inverted.
Thanks, the gamepad uses that inverted camera control scheme that's not available with the mouse but I can't get the hang of it. I always seem to move the camera the wrong way.

Export: Geralt is not an aeroplane. I know this is an incredibly unhelpful response, but why do people use inverted controls in non-flight sims anyway? It's just a bad habit to get into that can backfire, as in this case.
A Plane.really? wow, good job showing to everyone just how clueless you are. Last time i checked Geralt was (mostly) human and like all human if you pull his head backward his sight goes up and if you push his head forward his sight goes down. That IS the natural behavior and it should be how the mouse work. It's the current default setting that should be called the inverted it fell so fake it's almost sickening.

Er... I said he isn't a plane - the only thing that controls with an inverted Y axis like that is a plane. Good job showing everyone just how clueless you are.

As for the rest of your point, that's one interpretation that I'd say is a slightly odd yet interesting one. You see the controls as "pushing" the avatar around and in that case, pushing forward to push his head down so he looks down does indeed make sense. However, I'd say that's an unusual way of interpreting it. Most people don't consider the controls to be "pushing" their avatar around like a rag doll, they see it that they are the avatar and that moving the mouse up will look up just as moving the mouse up would move the mouse cursor up towards the top of the screen.

If you moved the mouse up now and the cursor went down, it would seem incredibly strange, right? Essentially, with mouse controls, it makes sense that the avatar looks where the cursor is and you move the cursor in the game how you would move the cursor in Windows or whatever OS you use.

Late reply, but I learned to play PC with games like Aces Over Europe, Privateer and Wing Commander. All flight sims. Basically, if I'm not looking at a menu or at windows explorer, I need inverted mouse.

Yeah, and if I AM the avatar, I tilt my head BACK to look UP. So, JSL's reasoning is still valid, even if he was needlessly rude in pointing it out.

It's just down to wording when you get to this level. You might tilt your head back but you lift your face up. You raise your face by raising the mouse, you lower it my lowering the mouse. Fundamentally, looking up should involve moving something up, looking down should involve moving something down. However, trying to say which one is "right" by linking it in this way is just very ambiguous. I'm not saying "you guys are doing it wrong" but I just thought it was odd that people had learned to play non-flight sims in this way. I admit, I didn't know it was the norm in all PC games back in the day.

I think of my screen as a viewport so I move my mouse forward to look up. Pretend your mouse pointer is your physical mouse. It makes sense to invert x and y in this case to correspond with head movement.

However, I dont think like this in most situations. I think "up is look up" so having a scheme like this works.
I can't even recall anymore how I got used to inverted mouse. The flight sims probably explain it, yeah. The first FPS games didn't even allow you to tilt your view up/down with the mouse, but once they started supporting it, I've always had it inverted.

Another thing besides flight sims might be that I done quite some target practice with pistols and rifles in real life. When holding a gun, you keep your arms and head fixed in the same position so you always look along the barrel, and you aim by moving your whole upper body. So when I shoot a gun and aim higher, I tilt my upper body backwards instead of raising my arms. I guess that must also explain why inverted mouse feels right for me.
NO INVERTED MOUSE!!!!! bummer!
