Tired of trying to track down junk items lost somewhere in your inventory? Well I may just have something you'll appreciate then.

Unfortunately, adding an actual "Junk" category to the inventory screen and shop screen isn't really feasible (at least, until I find a way to decompile and recompile the gui .swf files without completely borking up the actionscripts), but what I can do is give each junk item a couple extra attributes that allow Geralt to dismantle them in the crafting screen for raw materials.

Because each junk item is both the schematic and ingredient for the crafting process, there's no need to alter any of the merchants just to add new recipes, and the only changes are to the def_item_misc and def_item_traps files. Hopefully this should play nice with most other mods as a result.

Eventually I plan on expanding this a bit to include custom items/trophies craftable from sets of the more valuable junk items, but I need to get a handle on adding new icons and translation strings first. For now, I just hope that this makes dealing with junk items a tad less painful for everyone.

Oh, and word of warning. I did a fair bit of testing, but I can't promise this won't introduce any unintended bugs. Depending on the specific junk you happen to pick up, it may also make it quite a bit easier to acquire certain components (Iron ore and silver ore, mainly). If anyone wants a version with more expensive item dismantling, just let me know.

Interesting. Downloading now.
Please upload to The Nexus. That way your mod will get more exposure and if you want testing/feedback, you will certainly get it.

Will do as soon as I've had a few hours sleep. Just a tad too braindead to get through setting up an account there right now.
a much needed mod. I'll give it a shot.
This is an excellent idea on dealing with junk. Bravo.
