A collection of my modifications to the HUD. See the description section below for details.

Uploaded to the Nexus here: http://witchernexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=132

June 4: Sorry if you downloaded the full 1.2 version. The crosshair wasn't turning off after combat mode ended. I've uploaded a new version that corrects that mistake. I thought I'd tested that...

June 3: Version 1.2 available. Updated against the v1.2 patch and hopefully made the pointer always point north now, thanks to some save games from made.

Important: see the install instructions so you don't conflict with the previous version.

Full version that includes the combat crosshair:
----------------------------------------
Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?pnahhw4fetyi2ha (Updated to v1.2 w/ crosshair fix)
Download mirror: TBD
Crosshair and auto lock-on indicator screen shot: http://i.imgur.com/VnYdz.jpg (not to be confused with the health symbol...)
Minimap direction pointer screen shot: http://i.imgur.com/0YBoJ.jpg

No combat crosshair variant:
----------------------------------------
Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?fcx6v5e0gj75177 (Updated to v1.2)

Just the minimap direction pointer (now hopefully a true north pointer):
----------------------------------------
Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?moxjhjbd9z4e333 (Updated to v1.2)

If you find any issues with when the crosshair appears or not let me know. I've just tried
to make it appear or disappear by whether the game thinks it's in combat mode or not. Sometimes you might have to actually engage an enemy (not just approach) before combat mode kicks in... ask the game creators why.

NOTE: don't install my previous minimap pointer mod after installing this one. The changes will
be overwritten. This mod contains the minimap pointer mod in it. It can't be helped since it's
the same file.

Description:
------------------------
There are four main changes:
1) Contains my minimap direction pointer mod (hopefully a true north pointer now): http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/mod_minimap_direction_pointer/page1
2) Shows a crosshair during combat mode. It's hidden outside of combat mode, because it'd be in your face unlike TW1. You might also notice that the crosshair is often to the side of where you'd aim with Geralt - as far as I can tell, aiming with the crosshair is more accurate (Geralt still needs to be facing the right way, of course.) At least the camera is nice enough to often zoom out while you're fighting.
3) It makes that target lock-on indicator 50% smaller. I got tired of fighting monsters obscured by that icon. It's not
so bad for humans, but it's still annoying and the crosshair should also help. I'd have just made them invisible if it weren't for the auto lock-on (a crosshair isn't enough).
4) Now when you press ctrl to open that popup quick menu, you no longer have to click on your selection except for meditation
since it's in the centre. That is, select signs, pocket items, or your swords by mousing over the icon and then letting
the menu close.

Looks great! Smart choices. I'll add to my list shortly.

Edit: added.
Is it possible to make each change optional?

Not unless I figure out how to read in INI files or something. Other than that, I'd have to make a different version for each combination. If enough people find some change unwanted, I guess I can make a version with that one split out. And the lock on indicator size... that one couldn't be optional even if I had a way of reading in a config file: I'd have to make a separate version for that one - just setting the scale and translating doesn't work.

Is there a way to decrease the size of the text in the Inventory menu, etc?
No worries.

I think this does it (or maybe increases..either way it's possible): http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/tooltips_mod/post1

Thank you! That did it.
Is it just me, or does the compass pointer always point south instead of north?

It's why I took pains not to call it a north pointer. I guess I explained it more in the separate mod's readme. Apparently Chapter II's map is inverted (or Chapter I's was.) I might be able to kludge it by figuring out which minimap it's using, but that's for later.

Also, just uploaded a new version to fix a mistake for when you lock on a target using the alt key.

I have been struggling with the "hover over and let go" modification but didn't have any luck. So I see it's not the controls.xml, but rather some .swf archive. Could you tell me briefly how to open those?

Nope... This thread is dead I guess. If even the author doesn't check it.

Anihero, this is one of my favorite mods. I love the mouse-over tweak.

Any particular reason you haven't added this to WitcherNexus?
This thing rocks! Love the no click on the radial. I hated that. Not sure on the cursor..will have to try it.

Thanks!

Yes! Finally... I wondered why they didn't have it like that from the beginning.
antihero_ you're my hero ;)

One request: can you release a version with everything BUT the cross hair.

In fast combat I sometimes get confused by seeing two cursors - the cross hair and the auto lock on.

Pretty please?

Sure. I'll do that after I get some sleep now. If I haven't done it in say, 12 hrs from now, feel free to PM me about it and remind me.
Just so you see it:

Struggling how? I'm not sure I understand your question. The swfs aren't archives either, although they usually are compressed. They're Flash files, as in Adobe Flash.
