OK guys, I have no idea how you managed to omit one of the most important features of rpg game (especially the one with open areas) which is: North idicator. The minimap right now is basically useless in the wilderness. We have no idea where is North, South etc., and by that we basically we have no idea where are we going. It's very frustrating to move in one direction, then checking normal map and finding out I'm at completely different place I wanted to be. Please, PLEASE, put some North indicator on the minimap.
Some random guy pretending to be an artist: "We omitted the north sign to increase the immersion so you must look at the moss on the trees to understand where is the north" lol

You may wish to convey your request over at thewitcher.com; asking us for features in the game is somewhat tantamount to asking Steam to add features to the game; we didn't write it.
I will, as soon as official forum on thewitcher.com is up and running :) In the meantime maybe ypu'll send a memo to CDP team? :P
I assume some people from CDP Red are reading these forums.
A north indicator would be definitely welcome; right now I frequently need to pause and pull up the big map just to see where I am going.
I'd actually prefer if I could pin the minimap so north always stayed up. I hate rotating maps.
I agree completely. Would have been better off without the mini map if there is no North indicator. Just takes up space up there as it is now.
I totally agree, The minimap is next to useless without knowing which way is north.

"Ok, gotta head west."
*Travels through the open forst paths, fighting monsters and such*
"West.. west... crap." *Brings up map*
*Went south*
"DAMNIT"

And yet the forum still isn't up, emailing them, trying their facebook, even posting on their topics on the witcher site gets no response to any of the issues people are having.

See the frustration?

I know they're checking and answering email, but they may only be answering email for people that they can provide a fix for. I'm sorry that you're frustrated. Hang in there! ;)

I finally got a response which is actually very refreshing. I posted it in a seperate topic but I'll just quote it here for others to see as well

"Trust us that we are working as hard as it's possible. Programmers have already fixed more than 10k bugs, we are also working very hard on the forums and the website."

I'd be thrilled if they would just get their forums up at this point so people would stop tossing all the flack at GOG, you guys didn't make the game.

The company that owns you guys produced this game. Obviously frustrations are going to be taken out on your expense. Perhaps for future reference, if CD Project ever decides to release another game or the witcher 3, they won't decide to make the bewildering decision to take the forums down at a time when they absolutely need them the most.

I hate this company as much as I love them. First the publicity stunt with GOG and scaring the shit out of the community, and now no direct support via forums for quite possibly the biggest PC game of the year?

Community will make or break a PC developer. CD Project would do well to learn this lesson.

I am glad that I am not alone. First I thought I am just blind not to see the north indicator :-)
The map needs work for sure. In act 2, I'm on the mission to find teh kingslayers hideout, and the minimap is telling me to go way off in the mountains somewhere, but the main map is telling me to go near the brothel in the Battlefield. Is this a bug? I'm kinda stuck. I got lost in the fog again and died real quick (which seems strange since i made it through before).
edit: nevermind, I figured it out, but I still think the map system is borked.
