I was wondering whether anyone else was having weird lag when pressing start using the Xbox controller? To be precise when I press start the game pauses but there is a pause of between three and fifteen seconds before the start menus comes up and lets me interact with it.

The weird thing is it seems to be entirely situational, in some spots it can take an age, in others it pops up almost instantly.

I'm playing on an i5 750, with an overclocked GTX460 and outside of a few bits of momentary lag whilst loading new areas I've been getting consistently high FPS.

Yes, I've had some odd pauses between pressing Start on the controller and the menu appearing but as it takes no longer than 10 seconds and doesn't happen all the time I've just put it down to being one of those slightly annoying issues you get used to.

Yup, I get the same issue. Also seems to go away at night (in game)

Also got that problem. So its by night it goes fast to open the menu, huh.
I noticed that it sometimes opens fast, but hadn't pinpointed what was different.

The time the menu takes to load depends on how many saves you have. Since the game doesn't overwrite manual or autosaves, only quicksaves, this can get rather lengthy. I periodially delete my old saves so that the loading is much quicker.

Same issue, I've taken to reaching over to the keyboard and pressing the corresponding shortcuts (M for Map, J for Journal etc.) as that never results in lag.

Seriously weird.

Although, if the save amount is the case, that would make sense as the menu is also loading up the save and load options. Still, I just press F5 for a quicksave instead to get around that.

Is this related to the xbox controller? I've been having the same problem it's a real pain in the ass, applying a blade oil and saving the game takes an extra 30 seconds. I guess I'll have to start using the keyboard shortcuts.
