I haven't installed Witcher 2 yet (still have 2 acts to go in Witcher 1). I'm unclear about the install of the first two patches for The Witcher 2. Do the two patches automatically install at first launch if I choose that option? The official installation guide says patch 1.2 installs automatically but be sure that patch 1.1 is already installed. This instruction is confusing. (I'm refering to the retail disc version) Thanks for your response.

That's if you're going to patch it manually, you have to install 1.1 and then 1.2.

But the game supposedly updates automatically if you have an active connection

I found no where to confirm this, but I am pretty sure if you are just NOW downloading from GoG, it will be version 1.2 that you download. To confirm this you can check the Witcher 2 executable. Should be 1.2.6 etc.

If not, then you will have to manually download the correct version of 1.1 for your vendor. After that, if it is not Steam, you will get an automatic download of 1.2 when you open the launcher; but it will NOT automatically install 1.2. You have to run the installer from your Documents/Withcer2/Downloads folder.

(You can skip the launcher part of downloading 1.2 and do it manually as well.)

That is probably as clear as mud.
