Looks like TW2 isn't doing so well.

Looks like PCG doesn't know how to do their job well.

Seriously your trolling about this? LOL
Hmm, Dragon Age 2 on the other hand got a 94. Of course I am sure the fact that it was released by a much larger company that carries more weight and has far more resources had nothing at all to do with that decision. :eyeroll:

"Last minute collapse onto its own silver sword aside, this is one of the most impressive RPGs you'll ever play."

Yeah. Clearly they hated it.

Their problem is mostly with the ending, which is a fair criticism. Other than that its mostly a rave.

"For such a story-based game, this is a killer – the only reason you’re not looking at a 90+ game. But make no mistake: everything leading up to that point remains amazing, and this is still one of the best RPGs in years. It’s not the deepest, the longest or the toughest, but nothing touches it for great moments, genuinely meaningful choices, or the passion that makes it easy to ignore the many rough edges – at least after a little levelling up and tooth-grinding."
People still put stock in magazine review numbers...? Weird.

;)
And 89 is a bad score then? How you figure that? Also, the opinion of one person from one magazine is the judge of how a game is 'doing' ? Please think before you post nonsense.

Except that Dragon Age 2 did mostly the same things in the ending that they complain about here and it got a higher score. I don't see how anyone could say the 3rd act wasn't rushed and the ending abrupt.

Maybe it's not the same reviewer.
I'll say one thing:

Gamespot, about 1000 member's voted TW2: 9.5! One of the highest i've ever seen in Gamespot!

It's not, but that's the excuse they always use and I'm tired of it. If they are going to call a game to task for one specific issue then the other one should be called to task for that as well. These numbers are important and can influence sales. I also find it suspicious that games from the largest publishers, who are also big advertisers for these magazines, consistently get higher scores and their flaws tend to be overlooked or minimalized far more often than they do with smaller developers.
89 is low. Game industry....
The guy who reviewed TW2 for PC Gamer is not the same person who reviewed DA2. In the comments section, he ("Richard") states that if he did, he'd have rated DA2 in the "mid eighties", and that TW2 is a much better game.

That said, I agree with a point made by some of the people who commented on that review - a magazine should have a consistent review/editorial policy so that games can be meaningfully compared - reviewers should consider how the magazine has rated other comparable games in the past.

...and at least it's progress of a sort - the original Witcher got review scores around 10 points (out of 100) lower than it'd have gotten if it said "Bioware" or "Bethesda" on the box instead of "CDProjekt", while the Witcher 2 is only losing 5 points for being made by jumped-up nobodies from Poland. ;)

PsychoPigeon is a troll on the Steam Witcher 2 forum as well. No he's glowing about all the people he caught with his bait.

Wish we could just boot these people. Oh well.
