This battle really pissed me off because not all tentacles are affected by Yrden. It took me half a dozen reloads before I finally figured that out. I thought it was a bug.

Given that you can't pause to examine the scene and in real-time Geralt is too busy running side-to-side to actually look at the monster, I thought this was a very cheap trick by the devs. Would've been far more enjoyable if you could whack any 3 of 6 tentacles.

The game design is so hit-and-miss, IMO.

Are you sure ? I did that fight on hard using nothing but Yrden.

Yes, two of the front tentacles cannot be trapped by Yrden. They're essentially invincible. The visual cue is that they don't have the glowing red bulge, but the battle moves so fast I really didn't notice, not until half a dozen reloads and a near rage quit... :)

Ah, i misunderstood you then.

Those two that can't be trapped and cut, they're likely the ones the Kayran uses in the final part of the fight when Geralt is running up the debris.

I actually managed to get past the Kayram wihtout much trouble, probably lucky, but i've had my share of frustrating moments in combat and a belly full of reloads, so i know exactly what you mean ;)

I never had this problem, I saw part of the fight before the game was out but the fact that it had glowing things on it is a halmark of like every game ever so my mind is ingrained with "GLOWING OBJECTS BAD. STICK IT WITH POINTY END. IGNORE THE REST"
